We arrived on the first of a three-day long endless string of storms, so we got to see a lot of the hotel (and virtually nothing else!) for the first half of our trip. The hotel itself is very nice. The room was clean and neatly arranged, and the lobby/restaurant area was quite attractive. Roomservice was not terribly thorough, but we aren't the picky type, so that didn't bother us too much. There were a few design flaws in the room (gigantic shower head that produced verrrrrry little water; an air conditioning vent IN the shower (we had to turn it off each time we showered so as not to get pneumonia), and light switches that didn't seem to be attached to anything. My biggest (and only real) gripe is that the couch was horribly uncomfortable. it seemed to be more like outdoor furniture, and lack of padding aside, we stuck to its vinyl-y surface every time we tried to get up. The bed, however, was heavenly!
Once the sun came out, the pools were lovely, though there were a few too many kids for my taste (but that's our punishment for booking a trip during the summer). The beach was very nice as well, though because of the storms it was covered (and I do mean covered) in seaweed. Once one waded out past the 20-odd feet of seaweed on the shore and in the water, the water beyond was warm and gentle. We saw dolphins, stingrays, and fish almost every day.
The hotel food was very hit and miss. The poolside (or during the storms, indoor) lunches were fine. Our first meal in "Coast" was not very impressive, and I had a bug in my drink, but our second meal was fantastic (like night and day really).
All in all, a very nice trip (probably would have been "excellent" if not for the stormy weather, but the hotel can't control that).

We have been to the Edgewater some four times already. I guess by that you know that we really enjoy staying there. It is clean, quiet, family oriented hotel. Everyone seems to enjoy the beach and the swimming areas. It has been a nice place to go and relax. My husband and I go there just to enjoy being on the beach in the quiet atmosphere. The food in the hotel is excellent and the service is great. Everyone makes it a point to greet you with a smile and ask how your stay in going.

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway alone (without our 1 year old). It was wonderful! There are only two negative things I can say about this place...1. The hotel only allows you to rent umbrellas on the beach until 5pm at which time an employee comes to take the umbrella away from you. I found this to be a major flaw, especially because the sun does not set until after 8pm. 2. We asked for a “king” bed and got a queen sized bed. When we asked the front desk to confirm that we should have a king sized bed they told us that we did have a king in our suite. So, I guess the hotel’s version of a “king” is actually a “queen”. Other than that, it was great and we can’t wait to return (with our own umbrella). The location is perfect. It is minutes away from all the great shops and restaurants on 5th avenue. The suites are huge. The room was renovated and nicely decorated with two flat screen TVs. The view from our room was beautiful. The kitchen comes equipped with utensils, wine glasses, a bottle opener, and plates. The hotel offers everything you need and more.

This was our third stay at this fantastic luxury resort and it get's better every time. The newly renovated hotel looks just marvelous. Our spacious suite overlooked the Gulf and every morning when we opened the shutters the view took our breath away. Every room has a flat screen TV and in the lounge is an iMac computer where I could check on my email. We spend the day on the beach just steps away from the two sparkeling pools, protected from the sun under great new white umbrellas. The attentive staff provided lounges and towels, we felt like we came home to paradise. Lunch at the poolside bar was fun and dinner at the Coast restaurant is a great experiance, lots of fresh seafood and other innovative dishes prepared by a wonderful chef and served by a most friendly staff. We return because of great service and the beauty of the place. I would highly recommend staying at the Edgewater Beach Hotel.
