Booked into a Superior room which was well appointed, very clean and had a very comfortable bed. I found all the staff to be efficient and friendly (Reception, house keeping, barman).
Location is good but there is no hotel parking so we had to use the undergound public parking just below the hotel. The city centre is a pleasant short walk away.
Food was ok and the hotel is on the back of the Sofitel which has a great bar on the top floor which gave some nice views of the city as the sun came down.
Booked on a promotional offer (payment in advance, 100% cancellation fee) so found the room to be good value.

Generally, we were very pleased with our choice of the Novotel. It had a nice design and was spotless. The location was OK - 15 mins walk from the old town and the Grund. We knew that it wasn't exactly in the centre so no surprises there.
As others have mentioned, the breakfasts are delicious and plentiful - fresh fruit, cheeses and meats, breads, cereal, rollmops, but there were two major downers. Firstly, the set price was pretty expensive (we were a bit stupid and only realised how much when checking out). Secondly, there was no menu. We discovered that there was also a hot selection (bacon, eggs etc) 5 mins before the restaurant closed at 10am. TIP - have a good look around before you load your plate!
The other problem we had was with the phone system. None of the extension numbers worked. We couldn't reach reception and the only way to order room service was to go down to the front desk. As we were spending most of the weekend meeting friends and generally rushing around, we didn't have time to find out why, but it was a pain.
For a first time, the Novotel is a good choice, but I think we would select somewhere else if we ever visit Luxembourg again.

We stayed at this hotel for a long weekend in May. The hotel is very clean and it's only a 10/15 minute walk to the centre. The best thing about this hotel are the beds - they're huge and extremely comfortable. The one downside is the lack of storage space in the room even for a weekend stay. It felt more like a business hotel for that reason. Regardless we would definately recommend it as it's close to the centre and the Grund region. The rooms are spoltess and the breakfast is delicious. We had food in the restaurant one night and the food was okay. Best restaurants are in the Grund area. Overall we had a great weekend and enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

The Novotel Centre is an "ultra-modern" trendy hotel on the southeast edge of Luxembourg city center. Their reasonable rates and easy accessibility to the train station, downtown and airport made it a great base for our visit to Luxembourg. Read on for more...
ROOMS:
The rooms are spacious and clean, with a very contemporary decor. The room had a tea kettle, a microwave and a personal safe. The bed was comfortable and seemed new. The bathroom layout was a bit odd, as the toilet was in a separate room around the corner from the sink and shower. The shower room itself continues the "ultra modern" feel to the hotel, and has a partially glass-walled shower area with no curtain or door, so 1/2 the shower area is open to the rest of the bathroom area. The only problem we had was that the bathroom doors are frosted glass and open directly towards the bed. So if the room occupants are waking up at different times, there is no way to prevent use of the bathroom light from lighting the entire room. Whenever one occupant of this room is awake, ALL occupants of this room will be awake...
LOCATION:
The hotel is situated about a 10 minute walk north of the Luxembourg train station, and about a 10-12 minute drive south of the Luxembourg airport. It is on the other side of the gorge from downtown proper, so access to the city is a block down the street and across the main bridge. Because Luxembourg city is quite small, there is virtually nothing that is not within walking distance of the hotel. We walked from the train, walked into downtown and all of the major squares and shopping areas, and walked to the area of the Bock. Our only trip by taxi was to the airport, which is definitely not walkable from anywhere in town, but could also be reached by public transportation, if desired.
NOTE: There are construction works going on immediately adjacent to the hotel. We didn't have any problems with this, except that the construction does begin around 8:30 or 9:00 in the morning, so late sleepers might be disturbed. We had no problems with this, and it didn't impact our stay whatsoever. Pedestrian access to the entire area, even around the corner, is being fully maintained as of mid-March.
AMENITIES:
The hotel has a nice, upscale restaurant in their lobby, which serves a fairly high-end set of meals. The desk staff is friendly and knowledgeable, as well as widely multi-lingual, and helped us out with several items during our visit. The rooms have wireless Internet available, at a cost. Even though the rooms had ports for wired Internet, this was not functioning, and no information was available on non-wireless Internet connectivity in the area. There is a fitness center on the lobby level of the hotel.
Overall, this was a nice hotel for a visit to downtown Luxembourg. Even after a long day, the walking distance from the city center was not troublesome. Of course, nothing in downtown Luxembourg is very far from anything else... Rates seem to vary widely depending on when and how you book. We booked an Internet-only rate at ?105, and found this to be great value for the money. If you're paying ?125 or less, you'll most likely consider this to be a great hotel for your visit.

We just got back from our vacation in Luxembourg, where we spent two days at the Novotel. The rooms were modern and really clean. The whole Hotel looks brand new and there are fresh flowers all over the place. The breakfast had a great variety of fresh fruit, yogurt, fresh cheeses and ham with delicious sausages and bread.
We also ate dinner at the restaurant and even though it was a bit pricey we found it really good and the place is really nice!!
The Hotel is across the bridge from downtown, so you can walk everywhere in about ten minutes. The parking is right next to the Hotel, but it is not included in the room rate, it is about 18 euro at night. Not cheap.
We will definitely recommend this Hotel to our friends, just make sure to do some research because you can find some good prices!!
