We spent 8 nights here for our Honeymoon and we had an excellent time.
The staff could not do enough for us they were very informative and very friendly.
The food was excellent and the attention to detail was second to none.
For a four star hotel we found the food and drinks not that expensive.
Our only regret was that we did not spend longer here.

LIke my subject says, the facilities on offer at Ocean Dunes is top notch, especially the golf club which offers some remarkable holes hugging the beach. Shame that before our groups tee off at 2pm that it took an hour and a half for lunch to arrive. We were given an excuse that the restaurant was "full" however we were only one of about 5 tables in the entire place. Furthermore, our groups order was not complicated at all - some pho noodles which usually take less than 5 minutes to prepare in this case took an hour and a half. My wifes salad was marginally better - this arrives in an hour and fifteen minutes.
For dinner my wife and I come down to their seafood buffet, where I am stopped by one of the staff asking if I made a reservation for the buffet (again there are about 6 tables still available as we arrived early). She tells me that because I did not make a reservation my wife and I would need to dine elsewhere. I explain to her that I am a guest at the hotel and all she does is apologize again. After she leaves we sit ourselves down in the indoor dining room (which was EMPTY by the way) and chow down to a nice spread of freshly caught seafood.
Nice place, but be prepared for the shocking service, Im an expat who has lived in Vietnam for over 3 years, and while I have had worse service in my time here, never have I had to pay this much for it.

Great Family Hotel

Our group had a great stay at this hotel. We had a suite which was perfect for our family (a 2 year old and a 5 month old). The bedroom had a king-size bed and a large tv. The living room had a hide-a-way couch, a large tv, fridge, a desk. WIFI was free in all rooms. Our friends were staying in a Superior room which had 2 queen beds. It looked very comfortable as well.
The hotel was great for kids. There were three pools including a pool the perfect size for toddlers. There was a "kids corner" on the grounds which had slides, a ball pit and other activities (babysitting also available).
The beach was great and quiet. The mornings were calm but the afternoon wind picked up and made it difficult for our young kids to swim.
The food was excellent - especially the evening buffets. All staff were very friendly and had great English skills.
The hotel is located in the middle of a beautiful golf course. Other restaurants and shops are located outside the compound (about 300 m away).
We would highly recommend this hotel for people looking for a nice hotel. After staying at a few other resorts in Mui Ne, we also realized that the price at the Novotel is very reasonable.
We also were told that the hotel plans to renovate and turn itself into a 5 star hotel in the next year. Apparently, they will reduce the number of rooms from 120 to 50.

We have returned form two weeks in Vietnam, One week on a tour and a week by the beach at the Novotel. The hotel is in a superb location, has beautiful expansive grounds which back straight on to the beach. There were always plenty of sunbeds with several pool boys always willing to set you up and then move you from sun to shade etc. They even give you a flag to wave when you need something. The two swimmig pools were never very busy and always clean.
The rooms are fairly small compared to the norm in the Far East and a little bit dated but they contain everything you need and are kept perfectly clean. I would recommend one with a sea view for the little bit extra that it costs.
There is a great breakfast buffet, lots of fresh fruit plus the usual egg/pancake station plus a guy making Vietnamese specialities. We ate in the hotel for 3 nights and the food was really nice and at reasonable prices for a 4 star hotel. The Saturday seafood BBQ at $30 was brilliant - as much as you want of fresh lobster, crab, tiger prawns and fish with lovely starters and deserts.
There are not too many dining options outside of the hotel within walking distance. We ate at one of the small restaurants at the side of the harbour called Hai Ma Quan (The Seahorse) - it was ridiculously cheap for fresh prawns, BBQ'd at the table and frsh Red fish which I think was red snapper. Enough for two with 2 beers each, all for $10!
Make sure you take the cyclo tour of the town, about $3 for the hour and hire the hotel's bicycles for a trip out.
We went on a local tour to the Cham towers, sand dunes, fairy stream with Kha, a great young chap who spoke really good English and looked after us.
We understand that the hotel is to undergo a full refurbishment which will involve making the rooms larger. So we look forward to a return visit too see how things develop.
Phan Thiet is certianly not main-stream tourism, but that's its charm, uncommercialised and with friendly locals. If you are looking for a bit of rest and relaxation after a tour - I thoroughly recommend it.

This is a great hotel. Great facility - lovely swimming pool, tennis court, kids corner, massage, beauty salon, internet, bike hire....We had a great relaxing time. The rooms are lovely and large. The balcony was beautiful. The food at the hotel was amazing. It is a great resort and very close to the city of Phan Thiet.
A couple of staff at the resort were especially lovely, the nurse by the name of Han was fabulously caring. She rode to the Pharmcy to get medications for us. Helping us beyond the call of duty. Another lovely person was the activity coordinator Long who has left us with a great impression. He is hard working, friendly and a very talented sporting person. He is great working with children, very inspirational for my son who loved playing soccer with Long. It is people like Han and Long made our stay in Vietnam a very wonderfully memorable one.
