My family & I visit Bruges every Christmas and we always stay at this hotel. It is in a great location, 10 min stroll to the main square, through the beautiful picturesque streets. The hotel is clean, well decorated and the staff have always been polite and professional. The rooms are clean and well maintained either overlooking the courtyard or the street. There are disabled rooms on the ground floor, which are very well maintained. The breakfast buffet is excellent offering continental or cooked. There is a full bar next to the restaurant which is very nicely decorated. There is parking beneath the hotel which is chargeable but you can easily find parking available in the street to the rear of the hotel. My family and I will continue to stay at this hotel, good location and very good value for money.

The hotel is clean and quite decent. Breakfast is OK, similar to all Mercures. Well located. Lots of tourist, less of a business place. No fitness center. Rooms are ok, but I have seen much better for a Mercure. Staff was not helpful with me, and a bit on the disagreeable side with business & typical tourists....

The second stop on a three country tour with Gate1 and we found the hotel in the middle of a major reconstruction. It's not real good right now, but should be better when the job is done. I think completion was slated for mid-summer. We didn't notice any bad odor, but we did note that a lot of the main floor was covered with fine dust from construction. The room was clean, but the bed was hard to the point of being uncomfortable. The restaurant and bar are closed and have been temporarily moved to a converted meeting room. Better get to the breakfast buffet early. If you arrive around 9 AM, as we did, you may find the eggs and potatoes pretty cool and many other items gone with no effort to restock. The location in the middle of the old city was great, but under the present conditions, one night was enough

On the first day we reached the hotel at 10:30 but there were no rooms available so we kept the lugggage with them and went out for a stroll. When we eventually got into our room, we were greeted with a defening drilling sound! Thankfully that was it, after that the sound died. There were little noises here and there but it wasn't too disturbing. The hotel is being renovated but the workers work from 9 to 6 so you wont be disturbed. On the plus side, the hotel was quite clean. The people at the reception were very nice to us. The room was spacious for a three star european hotel. There were no tea/coffee making facilities, which can be a problem! The hot breakfast was excellent. Good selection of yougurts too, well stocked right till the end. Things you wont like are: the orange juice (which is from concentrate!) and lack of english breakfast tea. The location of this hotel is quite central which is great. You can walk to it from the station. The part we loved the most was the dinner. It was very good, especially the minstrone soup. Tip: The hotel directly opposite called charles quint does excellent desserts! To summarise, we enjoyed it.
