The hotel is a good hotel there is no doubt about that although it is a very hot 20 minute walk into the centre of the old touristic part of Athens. This I have to say didn't really bother us at all.
The last night we stayed there ( at the end of our holiday) we decided to try the rooftop restaurant, which does have fantastic views of the Acropolis.
Now don't get me wrong, I knew it was expensive but if you can't treat yourself when on holiday.....etc
So I chose the Rack of Lamb, thinking lamb is something Greece does really really well! SO it arrived and I'm afraid I had to complain...at $22 ( Euros) you would expect more than 2 small lamb cutlets and a piece of tomato and aubergine..or is that unreasonable ?
I was outraged and told them so, the Head Waitress was very understanding and did not charge me for it and allowed me to order something else.
It really spoiled the last night of our holidays.

Stayed for 7 nights to see the historical and cultural sights of Athens. Do not pay attention to reviews since March 2008. The hotel has been renovated and all areas are clean and pleasant. Did not use main restaurant, so can't comment on that. Pool area on roof is great, with fantastic views over Athens for 360 degrees including the Acroplois to the south. The pool area is even better at night. The romm was clean and comfortable and the air con worked. Just as well because we had two days when the temperature reached 38 degrees c. The surraounding area is not that pleasant to look at but felt safe. !0 mins walk to nearest metro station and taxis around town are cheap - agree price before you travel. I would reccommend as a good place to stay.

we had a SAD experience, with NO sleep for the 3 nights we spent here. At 20 degrees centigrade outside, the AC is not working and heating is on!! We were asked to open the windows and sleep(in a 4 star hotel, no AC!!), which made it so noisy that we got no sleep and would spend all night opening and closing windows in the effort to cut out the sound from the street. The exhausts in the otherwise well apponited bath/toilet were dysfunctionla, with no effort from the management to repair them. The rooms are well done and impressive, but the ac units are old and evn the fan/blower doesnt work. The hotel is in a very seedy part of town, feels unsafe to walk to the tube, hence had to take cabs. No dining options around. An extremely unpleasant start to a vacation in Greece. The kids are full of fear that all hotels in Greece will be as hot! What was worse was the staff's attitude...Poor customer service. dont stay here if you can help it. Too unsafe to travel around with family.

We (a german couple) can recommend this hotel to anyone because of the following reasons:
+ reasonable prices
We got a weekend-deal for 83 Euro per room and night (excluding breakfast)
------------------------------
+ quiet & modern rooms
Rooms are clean and bright with double-isolated windows
------------------------------
+close to city center
We allways used the metro as it is very cheap (oneway ticket 80cent, 24h-ticket 3 Euro), but one can walk to the city center in maybe 40 Minutes
------------------------------
+easy and fast access to public transport (only 5 Minutes walk)
Larissis Station is only a five minutes walk away. From there You can directly reach Akropoli Station in about 7 Minutes (5 stops)
To/From the Airport it takes about 50 Minutes (change train at Syntaghma), with trains departuring every 30 Minutes (airport ticket costs 6 Euro!)
-----------------------------
+ neighborhood is safe and better than in other parts of Athens
The neighborhood is ok, we never felt unsafe (even at night), although it's not the upper class living there. The surrounding is relatively clean with no graffiti (as in other parts of the city).
-----------------------------
Tips:
+ On the upper 8th floor of the hotel You have a nice view of the Akropolis (2,5km away)
+ When visiting the Olympic Village (Irini Station) make a stop at Iraklio Station: You can find some nice bars/cafes there away from tourist crowds. (We stayed there at noon).
+ The entrance to the Akropolis (which closes at 17:00h) costs 12 Euro, but on Sundays it's for free.
