Hotel was recommend by a former resident of Gdansk.
Room was clean and buffet breakfast very good. Would recommend when traveling in any part of Europe to have breakfast included in room price, unless reviews incicate it is not worth while.
Hotel was an easy walk to old town. Front desk English skills very good and they were helpful with tourist information as well as arranging Taxis to local sights and to the airport.
Be aware that Taxis can be a problem. Always arrange you ride through your hotel or travel agent.

The hotel was excellently located in relation to the Gdansk Old Town, maximum 5 minutes walk to the Green Gate. Was good value for money, breakfast more than adequate and the hotel staff were helpful and spoke good English. Also we were provided with the 'Gdansk in your Pocket' guidebook for free which is invaluable. No complaints, other than our room wasn't made up on Easter Sunday which wasn't a major problem (this is all that stopped me from giving the hotel 5 out of 5). Apart from that really happy with our stay. Great city too, recommended! For info, taxi from the airport to hotel cost 60 Zloty.

Just returned from a 2 night midweek break in Gdansk. Stayed at the Novotel Centrum which is everything you'd expect from a Novotel-clean, contemporary (if refurbished), good reception staff, decent breakfast and a little 70's around the edges. Top marks go to reception staff who allowed us to keep on our room for an additional 4 hours following a very messy night out on the (EEEEVVVIIILLLLLL) Goldwasser after which I was very ill. I would not have fared well on the freezing streets of Gdansk waiting to go back to the airport whilst vomiting violently. Thats all I'll say. So a massive thank you to the staff on reception for that.
Rooms are lovely and clean, contemporary following a refurbishment with nice bathrooms with shower only. Towels plentiful and changed daily, along with tea and coffee making facilities.
Breakfast very continental with a few cooked items (eggs-fried and boiled, huge baked beans, sausages of some sort and bacon), lots of bread and jams etc.
I noticed that a lot of the reviews on this hotel urge you to ask for a room which does not overlook the busy dual carriageway and I see why. Our room faced the dual carriageway and although the noise didnt bother us too much at night it was definately the awful eyesore of a view that disturbed us most!!! Gdansk is very industrial and also very ugly in parts. The old town is beautiful and of course that is what all tourists decide to see when they choose to visit Gdansk, but this hotel does not really have a nice view regardless of which side of the city you overlook from your room. We must have had the short straw when it came to rooms with a view as all we could see from our window were several very high, very ugly blocks of flats painted in some garish shade of orange or brown lining a tributary of the Motlawa river, the dual carriageway through Gdansk to the right of us over a run down looking subway and the roof of the hotel restaurant. But at the endof the day, who looks out of their hotel window when there's far better things to see and do outside? Don't choose this hotel for the view, choose it for the fact that its central, fairly cheap to stay at, clean and friendly.
May I also add that it is much, much cheaper to call a taxi from the hotel or airport than it is to just jump into any old one which will charge you extortionate rates. Watch out for these taxi drivers who will ask you if you require a taxi on arrival at the airport. The cheaper ones are marked with a number of the side (something like 9696).
Finally, may I add that in the winter a lot of the citys attrations appear to be closed or running a limited service. If you want to see and do everything including seeing the clock in the main cathedral at noon, touring the town hall and visiting the shipyards go well into the main season and take an extra day. Out of season, there is enough in Gdansk to keep you occupied for two days, like what we did.
Recommend Salonik restaurant on Dlugi Targ (the main street) for excellent Polish cuisine, CICO (Come in Chill out) for after dinner drinks and a relaxed club atmosphere well into the early hours and the Goldwasser vodka in the smallest quantities!!! Look what happended to me!!!
Enjoy x

Have just returned from weekend in Gdansk, the hotel was conveniently located (once you get your bearings), rooms were clean, tidy, etc. No noise in or outside the hotel. Breakfast was average, although there is plenty choice of cereals, continental meats, and 'hot dog' english breakfast. The staff were very helpful and polite. Did not eat in the hotel restaurant in the evenings so cannot comment, but would recommend the Sphinx restaurant located on 'Long Road', food was good and there is plenty of atmosphere. All in all enjoyed our weekend in Gdansk, but do be prepared to walk. Would say this city is ideal for people who are interested in history as there are plenty of museums, and interesting buildings. Would not recommend this as a place for anyone looking for evening entertainment, (may be different in the summer), as your evening is built going for your evening meal.
