Fairly non-descript place, room was fine. Lots of large and somewhat rowdy groups spoiled the atmosphere in the public areas. Location fairly out of the way - luckily there is a large shopping centre and multi-cinema complex almost next door, anything else is a taxi ride away.

This hotel is on the Buda side of the city. Getting to the city center is easy, though (10 minute taxi ride).
As a hotel designed for conventionis I found that it falls a little short of "good". I would rate it "ok" overall.
1. Breakfast good
2. Rooms: comfortable, although bathroom tiny (and the towels too!)
3. decor inside is somber. Could do with some more light
4. Bar closes VERY early for a convention center (midnight)
5. Nightmare for a smoker: the hotel ran out of cigarettes and never re-ordered in in the following 3 days (despite repeated asking)
6. Staff is very "detached/uninterested" (don't know if it is due to language barrier)
Not the kind of hotel I would choose for a weekend away, but for a convention it is ok as a budget option.

Hungary for some character in this bland but OK hotel

Stayed here for four nights in April wile lecturing at a conference.
Try as I might I cannot think of much unique to say about this very bland business four star hotel.
Photocopy any central European "business area" hotel and write your own review.
Foyer & facilities fine, but bland. Staff reasonably helpful.
Pool and gym a nice touch, but a bit shabby.
Room reasonably spacious but decorated and appointed cheaply - white emulsion paint and MDF the order of the day.
Minibar very expensive for Hungary, but convenience reigns.
Breakfast hot items very poor indeed - badly prepared facsimile of an American hotel - but the cold cuts and breads, as in many european hotels, were excellent.
Hotel is cited quite near some new and quite reasonable restaurants and hostelries, but the old centre is a fifteen minute taxi ride away.
In summary this is a clone Novotel, never going to inspire eulogies from any guest, but a perfectly OK place to stay for a safe and comfortable nights sleep.
My stay there has left a near blank in my memory.

I travelled solo to Budapest for the first time and had no idea of the location of the hotel.
Some internet sites mentioned it was 100m to main shopping street on Pest side....this is wrong.
It is probably 100m to the nearest bus station!! Catch the number 8 bus straight into city centre (Pest side) only about 5-10min ride.
I was very impressed with the hotel.......nice decor and great facilities.
I enjoyed the in house gym and the free internet access was very handy.
The staff were friendly and happy to organise travel tours.
The hotel is located next to a shopping centre for all grocery needs.
I would recommend staying at this hotel.

All I needed at the Novotel Congress
Guest name: rainer1, Herne
Hi, we went to Budapest for the first time and booked the Novotel Congress through Novotel.com. Got a great rate as i booked one of their Early Break packages. The hotel is all you expect from an international like Novotel. I spoke to the staff and they said that everything had been renewed by the summer of 2007 and it showed. Room was new with nice duvet, LCD TV , walk in shower. Not an extremely big room but convienient, I guess about 24 m2. Fitness and wellness area was grat, brand new equipment with buikd in TV etc. Wifi was available throughout the building. The lobby and lounge bar are fresh and new, very colorfull. Spoke to some of the staff, Tamas at the front desk was very helpfull finding things to do and a restaurant in the Castle district. The guy at the bar had us try some of the local gins, great but to be used with mderation. breakfast was good, hot and cold and until 11 on the weekend. Overall great value knowing that the hotel is on the Buda site of the city with busses bringing you where you need to go. taxis were not too expensive about 8 euros to get to the bridge and castle.
