This is a tidy and clean hotel. The staff are both friendly and efficient. There is no problem with English speaking staff at the reception but there could be a bit of confusion in the bar and restaurant areas.
The entire property is surrounded by a barbed wire fence and access is via a security gaurded gate. Personal security is an issue in this city and you should be aware at all times. Within the hotel area though you can relax.
The rooms are renovated and although not large, they are comfortable. The airconditioning may seem a bit noisy but you need to keep it on at all times.
Breakfast buffet is good at BR20 and retaurant meals are satisfying.

Very clean hotel, with a European feel. Staff are VERY friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, they charge for everything: bottled water, gym fees, breakfast....
The buffet is very fresh and provides good variety. The mango and papaya are wonderful - can't get taste like that in North America.
The pool area is spartan and in the evening, there are often parties in the cabana which overflow onto the pool deck.
Hotel meeting rooms are well equipped but when you ask for cappuccino it comes from a Nestle mix.

I stayed at this property for about 2 weeks in November 2005, then another 2 weeks in September 2006. It is a good solid property. It is low rise, about 4 floors I think, and spreads around a reasonable sized swimming pool. There is also a well furnished but underutilised gym on the ground floor.
Rooms are fine, not overly spacious, but renovated before my first stay in 2005, and during both both stays 24 hr access to high speed ADSL internet was provided free of charge ~ a significant bonus. This was using a LAN cable, as no wireless system was available at the time.
Breakfast here is plentiful, in the Brasilian style, and other meals, including room service were well-cooked and good value. Service was generally friendly and efficient.
Location is okay, adjacent to the a main highway (no noise problems) and a bit on the outskirts of town, but I gather that most hotels there are. There is a supermarket and a shopping mall within walking distance, but most other excursions require a taxi.
Overall, a good place to stay in SJDC.
