I stayed here for 2 weeks while I was in Auckland for work related training. I was a bit worried about this hotel since it is on Queen Street, which can be very noisey and busy.
But I did not need to worry at all!! I was located a room on the 4th floor which was perfect. It was a studio room, yet very spacious, light & airy. It had a small kitchenette, flat screen tv, queen size bed and a HUGE bathroom.
Rooms were recently refurbished from the looks of it, and were very clean, modern and tidy.
I would not hesitate in recommmend this property to anyone... its quiet, central and in a great location!

Great little hotel in a great location. I have to disagree with some of the other reviews.
Staff were great. I stayed in one of the recently refurbished rooms on the first floor on the street side. Clean, tidy, and quiet, for a room overlooking Queen St. It was honestly one of the better Mecure properties I have stayed at in NZ and even out performed some Novotels.
Recommend one of the twin rooms (just a little more space) or a Junior suite if your looking for a bit more space.
Also note it takes them a little while to get your car from the valet parking so give them a call in advance. Aside from that minor niggle it serves is purpose quiet well.
Lets face it your not paying 5* rates so why have 5* expectations.

Got in here at about 6am after overnite fight from LA. Staff was confused but accomodating and managed to finally get our room which had been scheduled for this early arrival. (Travel trip: stay up all the first day and then sleep on local schedule that night...much easier to adjust that way!). Staff continued to be nice and helpful throughout our stay. Hard to beat the location on Queen Street and an easy walk to the ferry terminal and waterfront. (Be sure to take the ferry over to Devonport for at least a half-day trip!). Hotel is clean and decently furnished. I'd call it a "business" style hotel. Our room was large with good bath, mini-kitchen and good TV. Some construction noise from a large next door project. Certainly fine for the three nites we stayed there. Breakfast was good and typical NZ fare with eggs, bacon and beans among other things. Small lobby which has dining area behind it. Several internet cafes within a few doors of hotel. Queen Street is a big shopping street but be aware that there are few "bargains" here!.

This is a little gem - we were here for just one night to watch the Foo Fighters' concert, and the location of this hotel was excellent. It's right on Queens Street, very central. We booked a standard room but was upgraded (without our knowledge). It's on the 7th floor, was a decent size, recently been renovated, and unbelievably quiet! The room has also a flat screen tv, and a kitchennete with 2 stove tops, a microwave and a jug. Pretty functional.
Shower was of good pressure and was hot the whole way through.
Front desk staff seemed a bit "not trained properly", but they were nice enough. We were told that we've been upgraded at checkout and was asked to pay $20 difference. We refused as we were not told at all about it - and they accepted it.
All in all this is a good place for a short stay. Price is reasonable too.
