Having stayed in a 4 1/2 star hotel 25m down the road from this hotel in Melbourne earlier this year and being very very disappointed, I was apprehensive with my choice of The Crossley for this trip. I had stayed here years ago, was very happy then and was more than happy this time.
This time 3 colleagues and I stayed 2 nights in seperate queen rooms for R & R before a recent conference.
All rooms were very comfortable and clean.
The bathroom had a very large bath to relax in.
The staff were very helpful and professional.
Well priced
In a great location being very central to well known wine bars and tram / train stops as well as being a short walk to major shops.
I would stay again.

After reading such good reviews about this hotel, my hubby & I chose this hotel for our last night stay in Melbourne.
When we came (around 10.30am), the receptionist was so exhausted handling all the check-outs and she thought we were going to check-out as well... After explaining that we're there to check-in, she took our confirmation booking number & then asked hubby to fill out all the paperwork.
When we booked this hotel, we've already mentioned that we wanted to have a late checkout until 1pm (and prepared to pay $20 extra charge).
We mentioned this late check-out request again during check-in and she said she'll arrange it... She also assured us that she'll bring our bags to our room when the room is ready.
Around 3pm, we went back to the hotel, picked up the room key and surprise surprise... our bags were not there... so hubby had to go back to the receptionist, and brought the bags himself.
The next day, hubby got a phone call at around 12.30pm, told us that the latest check-out time would be at 1pm and they will charge our account $20 extra. Hubby then told the receptionist that we would check-out at 1pm, and we've told the receptionist yesterday when we checked-in... the receptionist told us that there's no record of it on the system....
We were very disappointed with the customer service.... won't stay in this hotel again...

My husband, 15 y/o daughter and I stayed at the Crossley hotel in Melbourne for 4 nights over Easter. We were extremely pleased with our choice of hotels. We arrived from the airport 2 hours earlier than the check in time but the friendly staff on the front reception told us that our room was ready and that we could go straight to it.
The standard room that we chose had a queen size bed and a single bed. The room was adequate size for the 3 of us and the beds were very comfortable. The room was modern, clean and well maintained.
I was so impressed with the friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble.
It is centrally located to easily reach all of the tourist and shopping destinations via either the free city tram or the normal tram. We were amazed at how excellent the transport system is in Melbourne.
There are plenty of excellent restaurants within short walking distance. We ate at a chinese restaurant in China Town the first night and then took a 10 minute walk to Lygon St for Italian the following night.
I would highly recommend this hotel. Even though there is no pool, gym or sauna - the excellent service, price and location far makes up for this.

this hotel is clean&friendly, with a city centre location. although our suite (room) wasn't huge,it was big enough for the 3 of us.
we had a small kitchen area which had all you would need, microwave, fridge, kettle etc., although we didn't use it because it is so central we ate out all the time.
the bathroom was immaculate.
the staff on the reception were fantastic with us and nothing was a problem for them.
i would stay here again without a doubt

We were really happy with our stay at the Crossley Hotel in Melbourne.
Our room was beautifully decorated - modern and looked very new. The bathroom was huge and the rest of the room plenty big enough for the two of us. There was a huge window with views of the city, also letting in lots of natural light. Everything was very clean.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. They were happy to answer any questions we had, and to help with transport and sightseeing advice.
The location of this hotel is excellent! Located at the top end of chinatown, there are plenty of wonderful restaurants on the doorstep. The cbd and public transport are also within easy walking distance. While close to the city, our room was relatively quiet though.
We would recommend this hotel to others.
