Poor hotel. Rooms are very small. You cannot swing a racquet. Ugly deco. Small TV. Expensive internet connection (so expensive I didn't even try). Breakfast not included, mediocre and very expensive. Location is average. The area is a bit rough at night. Overall, very poor for Budapest. Bad experience. Wrong choice. Best to avoid unless there is no other choice available.

I spent two nights here in March. My room was quiet, not over-large but very adequate. The bed was comfortably soft, as I like it: duvets were supplied but when I asked for a couple of blankets and a sheet, they were delivered to my room promptly. The bathroom was immaculate. Service was friendly, courteous and helpful. Buffet breakfast, 7am-10am, caters for all tastes though the coffee, dispensed from an urn, tastes, well, urnish. The hotel is about a 12-minute walk from Deak (pronounced day-ak, not deek) Square which is the centre of Pest. I would go back to the Metropol very happily.

Una scelta abbastanza azzeccata, anche se la camera era piuttosto piccola e la vista non delle migliori, ovvero affacciava sul cortile interno dove c'era l'impianto dell'aria condizionata di tutto l'hotel pertanto era impossibile tenere la finestra aperta. Nel complesso c'è da dire anche che la metro è vicino e la via dove è ubicato è piena di negozi (tra cui un supermarket). Il centro si può tranquillamente raggiungere a piedi.

We stayed in Mercure Metropol for 2 nights in Sept. It was perfect for our needs - we were on a short break to Budapest and needed somewhere that was clean, modern and good value. Gotr a web-deal for apporx EURO 70 per night. Room was fairly standard - hotel does not have large public area or lobby. But it suits a short break - not for a long holiday where hotel luxury and the hotel itself is a major part of the experience. We did not book the breakfast option upfront - used the service one morning, went outside the other morning. Breakfast selection was standard continental breakfast but if you go down late choice may be limited. Hotel staff were very helpful with directions, tours, info etc. I would defintely recommend this for a short weekend break.
