This property is now owned by Accor and is called the Mercure Beaux Arts Lyon. The hotel was one of the highlights of our trip to Lyon. The staff were friendly and helpful since we didn't speak French. The rooms were immaculate, comfortable and the junior suite is quite spacious. The breakfast at the hotel was delicious and the offerings were fresh and hot. Best of all you are in a perfect location for dining, shopping and the metro.

We've stayed here twice now, so can't have had the same horrible experiences as some of the other posters!
For us it has been a perfectly adequate stop-over on a long journey down the length of France. The hotel is in a good location, with numerous places to eat nearby - great if you're tired and grubby, and want to just shower, get out and get dinner. Our room on both occasions has been large, with big picture windows overlooking the side street below. It has also been very quiet and we have both slept well. Breakfast has been fine - the dining room staff were friendly - and overall standards of cleanliness good. Reception staff were not effusive, but not rude, and they took my partner's racing bike and placed it in a locked room overnight for him with no problem.
Perhaps if we were staying longer than one evening and night, we might notice the same problems that others have reported, but we've come away quite satisfied, if not mind-blown!

Stayed for 4 days over the May 4th weekend, mr brother and his wife and my wife and I each stayed in a Jr. suite. I was a little scared after reading some of the reviews here, but it turned out better than expected. Yes, the rooms are small, but everything was in good condition and clean. Bed was excellent. My wife and I require good air conditioning and this hotel has it. Bathroom was clean and well appointed. Did not try the restaurant, why would you? Never saw anyone at the bar. This hotel has an excellent location right downtown amidst the shopping. Front desk staff was very helpful, no language barrier. We would definitely stay there again.

This hotel is pretentious, rooms are tiny and furniture + bed in poor condition. Staff at the reception is unhelpful, pretentious + hardly competent. Avoid this place.
