A lovely traditional Austrian hotel located in a quiet side street within walking distance of central Vienna with its grand buildings, restaurants, shops, parks, Spanish riding school and public transport.
The facilities and service are excellent and the breakfasts to die for. It is not cheap and prices vary from day to day. We paid between 129.00 and 209.00 Euro per night for a large room with ensuite bathroom and small kitchen area.
Be prepared for the odd little quirk such as the response to a request for an ironing board and iron being "we will set it up in the dining room for you".
There are many restaurants with character nearby, providing good food at moderate prices, ask at reception. This hotel is a must.

We stayed at josefshof this august on our first holiday for five days. The hotel overall was excellent, very clean with good rooms and the staff was really friendly. We also had breakfast included which was excellent and it contained a bit of everything somene would desire. The location is also excellent, in a very quiet street, very close to two major metro stations and also close to tram lines. Most sights including rathaus, parliament, graben and hofburg are within walking distance and the nearby Volksgarten is a very good place to walk, relax and enjoy a beer at night in the small bar located in it. i would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Wien, it is very good value for money. The only drawback was the lack of proper restaurant (apart from some snacks). however, the streets around the hotel are full of small restaurants and biergartens which can provide excellent and quite modest proced food solutions with traditional wienese dishes.

Just back from a 2 night break in Vienna staying at the Josefshof. Good room, nice and large, clean, comfy bed and a powerful shower. The hotel is not absolutely central but only a short walk away going through the VolksGarten or the Hofberg which is lovely.
Breakfast at the hotel was generous and tasty. Fab coffee as you would expect. How does the Starbucks stay in business? Anyway, only a short hop over the road to the underground, trams and buses are at the end of the road so very well connected. You can get the CAT from the airport but we came in late so took a cab. Price at time of going to press was €35 which seemed to be the official rate.
If you do use public transport the Josefsgasse is only a little narrow road so look carefully for the turning or you will miss it!
There is not a restaurant as such onsite but there are a number of restaurants nearby and lots near in the city.
Good choice for a weekend base.

I have stayed at this hotel for a week in September and
it was clean, fun and in a great location. If I ever come again
I would stay here definitely. Tip: don't buy the wireless internet
in the hotel. Go to the "moebel" coffee shop at 18 Burggasse
(about 7 mins walk from hotel). It is a great place for coffee
and reading a book, with free internet.
