This hotel is little more than an airport hotel. The rooms are clean and well appointed with the usual hotel furniture. Bed, desk, chair, TV, shower over the bath etc.
The hotel has it's own shuttle bus from Frankfurt airport. Easy to locate the bus stop and scheduled times of arrival are spread out accross the whole day.
Raunheim is a very small German town. There's not much there. I assume it's really for airport staff as there is nothing 'touristy' about Raunheim.
The hotel has it's own restaurant. Breakfast buffet is good and very European. Breads, meats, cheeses, cereal, fruit etc. Dinner did not look very exciting, but as the town is very small there isn't really much choice. Very dark and quite at night - so wouldn;'t recommend walking the town in search of food. Would definately recommend getting something from the airport before going to the hotel.
Definately request a non-smoking room when booking as many Germans smoke heavily in the rooms. Handicapped rooms available, but don't expect carpet in it. Ask for a room in the main building as the second building is more for 'long term' renters. Beds okay, but wouldn't stay for long. Usual European style. "Let's push two single beds together and call it a double" Extra blankets and pillows in the cupboard under the TV. Mini packet of Gummi bears on the pillow. cute!
The TV has two english channels - both news stations. Internet in the lobby, but didn;t see if it was free as was always being used by other guests.
Reception was friendly, but they might want to learn a bit more english. Corridors lined with pictures of Lufthansa aircraft. Even a shoe polish machine on each floor.
Big TOOM store (Like Walmart/Big W) about 5 blocks away. Good place to buy provisions such as drinks etc. Although TOOM (see www.TOOM.de) has everything. Hotel didn't have a clock radio that worked, but i could get one at TOOM for EUR5.99.
Overall a reasonably nice hotel. Wouldn't stay there for more than one night. But considering the price and proximity to the airport, worth it. Just don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.

Great experience

We selected the hotel because it had a shuttle to the airport and we didn't want to take the car into the city. The hotel was 12 kms. from the airport. The room was large, clean and comfortable although 111 Euros was a little pricey.
Anja at reception was wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. No trolleys were available so she carried most of our luggage to the room. She provided all the information we could want. Most important she made arrangements with Avis to pick up our rental car at the hotel so we didn't have that miserable drive to the rental area at the airport.
Lovely outdoor terrace restaurant, large inside restaurant and bistro. Salad buffet was excellent.
Had dinner at Zum Bembelsche a short walk away. Wonderful dumplings.
Shuttle right on time. We had to take another shuttle to a different terminal which was a minor inconvenience.

Mercure Hotel Wings Frankfurt Airport: Very poor choice!
Guest name: FarAndAway2006, Halifax, Canada
Mercure Hotel Wings Frankfurt Airport is a typical airport hotel without the benefit of being at the airport. After a wonderful week-long trip to Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Lubeck we decided to stay here our final night as it promised to be convenient to the airport.
The day before our flight home to Canada we arrived back at Frankfurt Haupbahnhof from Hamburg late in the evening. Our Accor Hotel guidebook assured us that the hotel is 5 minutes by car to Frankfurt International. A week before, we had taken a taxi from the airport to the Hauptbahnhof during rush hour for 22 Euros so we figured a ride to the hotel would run us anywhere from 20 to 30 Euros and take approximately 30 minutes. The taxi from the Hauptbahnhof to the hotel ended up taking forever and costing us 56 Euros!!!
As for the hotel itself, the rooms were larger that the average German hotel room and the staff were friendly enough but the "free" shuttle the airport departed 15 minutes late and took 35 minutes (not five, as promised) to get to Frankfurt International.
We had decided to stay here as it seemed good value to be "at the airport" for 62 Euros a night. But given the pricey cab ride and the overall ease of getting to the airport from central Frankfurt, we should have invested our 118 Euros into another night at a good hotel in the center of town.
Our experience at this hotel left us feeling duped by misleading advertising. It promised to be convenient and good-value but ended up being neither. Frankfurt is a wonderful city and it is very easy and reasonable to get to the airport from the town centre. I can't imagine any situation that would make this hotel a good choice. Do yourself a favour and make a reservation somewhere in town even if you're in Frankfurt for one night only.
