Where do I begin:
1. Check-in people not so friendly/help-full
2. Taking luggage around this big complex full of stairs
3. Different rates for rooms of the same layout (all 4 groups of people in our party booked in for a function and were quoted 4 different rates)
4. ANTS (lots of sugar ants... everywhere)
5. Noise at night from the functions (the facilities are geared for functions as a primary source of income... Not the guests comfort)
6. Hot Water pressure terrible (like taking a shower with someone spitting water at you with a small straw, and no, I am not kidding, I asked the 3 other couples if they had similar water pressure, they had the same.)
Good points:
1. Uhhhhh
2. The beds were nice and the maids tried to keep the rooms clean.(hard to do with the Army of Ants marching around)
3. Uhhhh

The photo's on the website are bogus!!! None of the rooms in this massive complex look like the photo gallery. The menagarie of double story buildings are linked by a series of stairs which are impossible to navigate with suitcases. The phone system does not work nor does the radio/music stations, nor the movie station so you are limited to 4 regional free to air channels. But the real highlight to your stay in this dump is the 6 lane artierial road located on your doorstep. The flimsy door with a gap around all 4 sides equiped with oh so secure chain link lock barely keeps the light let alone the incredible traffic noise out.
AVOID!!!!!!!

This place was wonderfull, Reception was huge and inviting, very easy to check in!
Was given an easy to follow map to the room, we were up grade from a queen 2 singles to a joining rooms with 2 queen beds and 1 single (my 13yo daughter loved having a queen all to herself). Bathrooms we clean and tidy as were the rooms, kids also loved the LCD tv's on the wall with the cartoon channel!
We had a wonderful lake vie room a small walk for reception, but were given trolleys for our luggage (which made it much easier for us)
The Pool area was fantastic, kids loved havin a 'bridge' to swim under, my partner also enjoyed the pool! I enjoyed the cocktail being bought to me beside the pool!! (If you like chocolate try the Chocolate KO cocktail - yummmm). My kids 13yo girl & 8yo Boy also enjoye dthe MOCKtails!!
Unfortunatley we never go to dine at he restaraunt, the food i saw delivered to tables looked yummy though!
Checking out was easy even at 6.20am on a Sunday!!
Over all I thought the Mercure was Fantastic!

We spent 3 days here, check in was quick, prior to arriving we had asked for a late check out on the Sunday. We booked a superior queen room. Even though this room had recently been renovated, was very basic for a superior I would have classed it as a standard room. We did have problems with ANTS, Hubby went down to reception and got a can of insect spray. Next day we found them around the desk area so out came the spray again. A little annoying. The bed was comfortable. Shower area was fine Lovely huge shower space. We ate at the resturant one night, fairly excy
around $30.00 main meals. Glad we were'nt there with a large family. The pool area is lovely. We asked for a wake up call on the Saturday morning, which we never received. When booking one for the Sunday morning we did get it, also about 10 minutes later reception rang to ask if we had received it. Would we stay here again, yes, simply because of the central location, also plenty of food outlets close by and also large shopping complex next door.
Check out was fine, although they did try and charge us for a late checkout TWICE.

Safety Pins Holding Sheets Together

We took a taxi straight from the airport to the Mecure so getting there wasn't a problem. It's easily within walking distance to a huge shopping center which was great when I needed to grab some extra stuff.
Now, our room wasn't anything worth writing home about. The room was dark and had a damp feeling to it, which surprised me because the outside of hotel seemed to have undergone a huge renovation and was very nice looking. Imagine our size when we pulled the covers back on our queen size bed and saw that the bed sheets were being held together with safety pins! I guess they had run out of fitted sheets, because the sheet covering our mattress was a flat sheet with safety pins in the corner to prevent the sheet from coming off when we slept on it!
The were also a TON of little black ants all over the bathroom; there was a small sign on the fridge talking about how we were in a tropical atmosphere and this was to be expected. I don't think so! I live in Hawaii which is also a tropical destination, and trust me, I don't have a colony of ants making themselves at home in my bathroom!
The free flowing pool was very nice though, if you're planning on using the hot tub, make sure to turn it on (they leave it off if no one is in it) at least 30 minutes before you actually plan on getting it - it takes forever to heat up.
