I spent 45 E/night for the hotel, as I booked and pay in advance (via their web site).
For this price, it was very convenient, and the overall quality is acceptable.
Furniture is a bit old, the air conditioning is both noisy (it costantly wakes me up early in the morning) and relatively cooling (I guess it's blocked to save electricity costs), so if I had to pay the full price of 120 E/night I would have been very disappointed.

Hotels in Italy are not cheap and may have poor quality.
At this hotel I got a good size double room /single use for 80 euros/night with buffet breakfast. It has a very nice private garden on the back that you see from the windows of the bedrooms facing that way.
Very clean, tidy and pleasently decorated. Everything you need for a bussiness stay they have it. Bathroom with hairdrayer and ironing machine for pants in the bedroom. Very nice smelling shamp? and body wash available.
Internet is available hy-speed in the room with laptop or with the TV. Also available at the hotel lobby.
Centraly located, just in front in the main railway station and the stop of the aerobus to and from the airoport. (it usually leaves every quarter of the hour at bussiness hours.
Within fair walking distance of the historical center of the city.
This will be my hotel of referece when I go back there.
Most of the times they have special rates on the internet, that I got this time. The usual price rate is 150 euros /night.

We stayed there one night, on our way to Southern Italy from London by the train. It proved an excellent choice, being righr opposite the
station but from there it was only a ten minute walk to the historic centre. Reception was highly professional and clearly supervised by the Manager, who proved highly efficient. Our room was quiet, clean and although nothing special was all we wanted for an overnighter. The breakfast next morning was excellnt and the hotel has a charming garden to walk around at the rear. All in all excellent for those wanting a good hotel near Bologna station, at a reasonable price for a one night stay.

Second stay in this hotel (two years ago when still under the Sofitel flag).
Hotel is well situated (opposite the train station) as per every city in the world , there are drunks and druggies hanging about in this area but nothing to feel unsafe about.
The rooms are quite large for European hotel, a little dated in decoration and the bathrooms are in need of renovation (hideous blue ceramic tiles ) but very clean and all items functioning well.
No retaurant in the hotel, but there are literally hundreds of trattoria, restaurants, osteria, pizzeria .... to choose from in this city. If you are tired from walking around, just go to the starhotel next door, great food in the restaurant and reasonably priced as well.

We arrived at the hotel very late (1 a.m.) and checked out early (9 a.m.) so my impressions are limited.
Although the lobby has a moderni-ish feel, our room was very brown and definitely in need of redecoration. Nonetheless, the room was spotless, the bed comfortable and the a/c worked well. On the tv, we had about 7 Italian channels plus one each of English, German, Spanish, etc. The room and bathroom were standard sized for a double. Breakfast was included ----an assortment of cold cuts, breads, cereals, fruits, eggs and bacon, along with a fantastic self-serve coffee machine which I wish I could have back home.
As for location, the hotel is right across the street from the Bologna train station and about a 15 minute walk to Piazza Maggiore along some very pretty porticoed sidewalks. Bologna is more of a busy, working city, although the center is pretty and there's certainly enough to keep you going for a day. The city, however, makes a great base from which to visit smaller cities in the Emilia-Romagna (Ferrera, Modena, Ravenna, etc.) by train so if you're inclined to do that, the location is pretty ideal.
We compared prices at the UNA, Starhotels and the Mercure, all of which are right next to each other on the same street. We paid $145 and thought it was good value for what we got as the Mercure is really more of a 3.5 star hotel. Overall, a decent pick for Bologna.
