After staying at the White Horse, i feel the previous reviews really are on the harsh side !!
On arrival we checked in with no problems.
Ok the hotel needs tidying around the edges, but the creaking floorboards and wonky ceilings are all part of it's character. After all it is hundreds of years old !!!
We stayed in the main building and our room definatly did not have mould and the shower was fine. Decor ok and nothing to complain about.
If your used to 5 star luxury maybe this is not for you, but if you want a good location, quirky atmosphere and a fab breakfast, then give it a go !!

I was disgusted by the how tired this hotel was - creaking floors (not just because it is old!!), mouldy and decaying windows, mouldy bathroom that badly needs to be replaced, pathetic shower (that I didn't want to clean in).
Overall the best part of the stay were the staff - must be embarassing for them to work there!!!
I wouldn't recomend this hotel to anyone - until it brings itself in to the 20th never mind 21st century!!

It's a shame so many of you seem to have had bad experiences here - as mine was of friendly staff and good quality service!
Stayed two nights for business, and was a little concerned due to bad reviews on here, was pleasantly surprised by the clean rooms (if a little chintzy for my taster) and the power shower :)
I even checked for mould after another reviewer mentioned it - couldn't find it!

I arrived at the White Horse to find that they had no record of my booking. Despite showing them confirmation from our booking agency complete with the name of a member of staff, booking reference etc I was told that as they had no record of it ... So I was left with no alternative; I had to ask if they had a room available and as they had one left I took it and paid for it myself.
When the booking was queried the next day by my company, they suddenly found the reference and my details and blamed the failure of the previous night upon a recent upgrade of their IT.
The Reception Staff displayed a less than helpful attitude - so beware, always double check your reservations, better a wasted phone call than a night in the car.
Also a glass of run of the mill wine at £6 is a rip off in anyones book.
