We stayed at the Francis Hotel for 2 nights recently, for 'The Taste of Bath'. We had a modern contemporary room on the first floor. The staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel is ideally located for all the main attractions of Bath. We enjoyed the dinner at the restaurant on the first night

I cannot recommend the Francis Hotel more highly. We stayed there for three nights in June 08 and were given room 129 on the first floor at the rear of the hotel. It had recently been refurbished and had the largest bed we have ever seen! The curtains had blackout lining and the bathroom was well equipped. The car park can hold about 30 cars but I am not sure of arrangements when it is full. The staff were all very friendly and efficient – especially the young lady in the bar who was pleased to have someone to talk to, it was so quiet.
The public areas are well decorated and there is a peaceful atmosphere throughout. Whilst the exterior is typically Georgian, the refurbished areas are minimalist 21st century with entrancing blue down lighters highlighting each bedroom door.
We didn’t eat in the hotel, taking waitress-served breakfast in Jolly`s nearby department store for ?3.35!
This has to be the best located hotel in the city with every attraction within 5 minutes walk, and we will certainly stay there again when next visiting Bath.

Don't stay here! We booked 2 nights and left after the first night. The room floor sloped about 100mm - including the bed. That combined with the low ceiling (I couldnt lift my arms above my head) made me feel ill. To top it off - we scratched all night (the room was infested with some sort of mite) - a bad experience!

All in all we had a nice stay at the Francis Hotel in Bath. It's location in Queens Square was excellent. Our room was on the third floor and was very old fashioned. The only thing that keeps me from rating this hotel higher was the creakiness of our room. The weather was unusually warm and on the third floor we needed air conditioning. The system appeared very old and while it did work, it took a long while for the room to get comfortable, probably because we were in what was an attic space (or servants quarters) at one time. We only stayed for two nights, so it never got too bad.
The hotel was very pleasant, once you came down from the third floor. Our room included breakfast and the dining room was very pretty and service was excellent.
I would recommend the Francis because of its great location.
