Not bad

Stayed here during a business conference. On the plus side, the location is great, the breakfast/dining room is lovely (bright and airy) and leads out into an outdoor seating area - great for morning coffee in the sunshine. The hotel shows signs of former grandeur, but now seems to becoming a little shabby and down-at-heel. This is where the downsides begin. Access to the bedrooms is through a myriad of corridors and the rooms are not, I repeat, not soundproofed. So if you want a quiet night's sleep without hearing your neighbour overhead walking around or people having a chat in the corridor outside, then this hotel is not for you. Rooms vary greatly, the ones at the front of the building seem to be preferable in terms of size and light. Facilities/additional items in room also vary widely between rooms. However, the rooms are clean and tidy (but quite chintzy). Breakfast was ok. Staff not overly friendly but professional all the same. Overall, an average hotel - nothing too bad, nothing too fantastic (other than the convenience of the location).

I stayed at The Queen's Hotel with my husband for 3 nights during the Spring Holiday. The hotel is wonderful, fantastic decor and the staff are very attentive. Make sure you use the stairs to see the grandeur of the hotel.
I booked a classic room with a queensize bed (using the hotel's website - best price) and very pleasantly surprised on arrival. The room is not big, but adequate and the bed is massive. The bathroom was large, great shower, white fluffy towels and lovely toiletries. Only criticism I had, which did not affect us, is that the ceiling is low in the bathroom therefore tall people would have a problem using the shower, but the bath is lovely to use instead.
We were fortunate to have a room (224) at the end of a corridor, only 4 rooms so we heard very little from people coming and going, we had no view, but very quiet room. There is a busy road so for some people this could be a problem.
Breakfast was offered to us on arrival at ?10 per person per day as opposed to ?15.95 so may be wise to book when you get there. The bar was comfy and prices not ridiculous, we didn't eat lunch or dinner there but the menu looked very nice. I had been concerned about comments made about parking, but we had no trouble, even taking the car out on the Saturday, there was plenty of spaces when we returned, and although it cost us ?5 per day it was worth the money for peace of mind.
Overall I would recommend the hotel, we had a fantastic stay, very luxurious and peaceful.

This is the third time that we have stayed at the Queen's in three years and the staff, as always were very friendly and attentive, whether we have been there as a couple or with our two small children.
Rooms have recently been refurbished and are very comfortable. Good buffet breakfast offered this time too.
The location is, quite simply, perfect for anyone visiting Cheltenham as is very central, overlooking Imperial Gardens and the top of the Promenade at the front and backing onto Montpellier which has lots of small bohemian shops.

I stayed at the Queen's hotel during the Cheltenham Festival last week, when it was full to capacity and when the room rates were more than 3 times what they usually are! However, it is in a great location right in the middle of Cheltenham and a stone's throw from the pubs and bars of Montpellier.
As it was Gold Cup day, the hotel was full to bursting when we arrived from the race course at about 7 (I'd been lucky to find a space for my car in the carpark that morning). The bar was packed with people who had clearly been drinking all day, yet we still got served quickly and the live band helped to create a great atmosphere. Despite the huge number of people milling around, staff on reception were friendly, calm and efficient. My room was a nice size and spotlessly clean and it overlooked the back of the hotel so I was not disturbed by noise from the bar/street at all.
As it was a late night, I didn't get up for breakfast so cannot comment on that!
All in all, I found the Queen's to be a very pleasant hotel which I would like to revisit outside of the madness that is Race week.

Nice hotel, reasonable sized rooms. Short break rates include breakfast for two nights or more
Main staircase is currently undergoing restoration so certain rooms can only be accessed by side stairs. If of limited mobility need to check that a room with lift access is available.
Also if in a room on the front of hotel some noise from teenagers who congregate on park in front of hotel and make a lot of noise particularly on weekend nights.
Hotel restaurant quite pricey, a good alternative is Blanc Brasserie (offshoot of noted chef, Raymond Blanc) with is part of same building but has a separate entrance around the corner
