Staff unfriendly and not welcoming. I don't expect much, but at least a "Welcome" or "Hello" would be nice instead of throwing a form at me to fill out. Also not helpful to assist e.g. where's the next supermarket or a map etc.
Room Service food acceptable, but for that price not great.
Breakfast buffet had a lot of choices, but did not look appealing.
Room was okay and clean.

This hotel is a disgrace for MERCURE's name. Should be downgraded to 2 stars. One night in room 536:
Poor decoration, poor atmosphere and...
only 1 towel in the bath room, 1 little piece of soap, water all over the place after you take a shower (I doubt that older guests can actually climb into the bath tube! as it is so high), Mini bar should actually be renamed micro bar: not even a bar of chocolate, carpet burnt in several places, curtains blocked (couldn't be closed without doing the clown on the sofa). The chair (the only one in the room, a stool I should write) with 2 broken legs. I asked the reception to change it, still waiting I suppose!!
Staff not very polite & service very poor for such a hotel.
At the cashier at 06AM while I was paying: the cashier:: "Breakfast?" , me:"No", "Mini bar?", me:" No", 'your code" (for my credit card). Not a single please or thank you or good morning. Disgusting.
If you still want to book there after reading this review, go and read the complaints book at the reception. When you'll end laughing, you'll run out of this terrible place quick.

l hotel est assez impersonnel comme le sont souvent les hotels appartenant a des chaines hotelieres...cependant l accueil y est plutot sympathique et courtois.les parties communes sont propres et agreables mais pas depaysantes pour deux sous.nous etions dans une suite superieure au 7eme etage compose d un salon avec sejour ,2 chambres et 2 salles d eau.le tout etait propre,en bon etat,dans les tons beige mais sans luxe ostentatoire.sinon l hotel est situe a 20 min. a pieds de la medina et juste derriere un grand parc ,le belvedere.dans la rue a cote on trouve facilement de quoi se restaurer et a des prix plutot bas.
bref un hotel correcte,propre, plutot bien situe mais sans reel cachetet pas depaysant.

Mercure El Mechtel is a poorly kept nondescript hotel. I stayed in a so-called junior suite. Although the room was specious in size and I got a good rate for it, the quality of the room upkeep and furnishing is of a 2-3 star standard. Internet connection was primitive, unreliable and very very slow. The only café at the hotel was always full with people, mostly locals, and cigarettes smoke. Staff were inattentive and visibly unhappy. I do not recommend this hotel.
