Having booked this hotel through an on-line travel agent (combined with airline flights) and little detail, I was somewhat apprehensive. We were totally satisfied throughout our 6 day stay at this hotel. Any hotel is only as good as its staff. We found the staff at this hotel to be very knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and non-intrusive. All of our requests were addressed immediately and professionally. The location served our purpose perfectly, as we wanted to be close to the Victoria University Kelburn campus but also close to the heart of the city. The room was cozy, the queen sized bed was very comfortable, and we appreciated having a refrigerator in the mini-bar. Compared to hotels in the United States, storage was somewhat limited (i.e. no closet) but we made do with what was provided (a sloping bar and about 5 hangers). We only ate at the hotel's restaurant one time for breakfast, but the buffet was delicious and not lacking in any regard. If you are looking for a good, comfortable hotel - but not an outrageous price, you should consider this one. Thank you.

Very tired old hotel. In need of a refurbishment. Poor lighting in the room. Aside from the bedside lamps there was one light on the far wall and that was it in terms of lighting. I also had the pleasure of hearing the elevator all night for several nights until i managed to check into another hotel. Bathroom was very tired, damp, and had a musty smell. Unfortunately i can't even say that it has a good location. On the plus side the staff were friendly and helpful and the restaurant looks like its had a going over recently. All in all .... not worth it, no matter how cheap it is.... try the Novotel or Ibis if your an Accor type, the Holiday Inn for something similar in price but better value, or something near the harbor .... Museum hotel or the new one Ohtel if your looking for something a little more interest in Wellington.

Very tired building. Booked 3 nights following a 12 hour flight as a city break and to get over the jetlag. Shower only a dribble, shower lever missing. Door chain also missing. Bathroom amenities not refreshed during our 3 days. Mentioned above to reception staff, given a breakfast voucher as an apology. Location not the best at least 10 minutes walk from anywhere. Only book if the rate is a steel.

The location was downer as it is situated quite well out of town. The rate we bought included breakfast which was a bonus.. We were very impressed with buffet breakfast.. The staff were very helpfull.. We thought we got value for our money as it is not too flash but ok.. .
