Have stayed here a number of times on business. I stay on the Exec floor where the staff are very efficient, friendly and English speaking. It also serves a very acceptable buffet breakfast.
Rooms are as good as other similar Xi'an hotels and the hotel location is excellent.
Where the hotel is let down, in my experience, is with the front desk reception which is often chaotic and staffed by people with a poor grasp of English.
I also don't rate any of the hotel restaurants or bars but its location - close to the centre - means this is not a major problem as there are numerous good restaurants within a 15min walk.
Note I often struggle to get mobile/blackberry reception but if you walk around the hotel complex, you can get some reception.
IMHO I think the Sheraton is probably a better overall hotel but the Sofitel Exec floor is my preferred choice.

We stayed here for 2 nights as the second stop on our independent tour of China. It is run as a 4-star, rather than a 5-star, hotel. The English proficiency of the staff is not great. We were upgraded to a suite, which was in the East wing and convenient to the restaurant and pool. The water temperature of the pool was much too warm and I did not find the jacuzzi to be clean. Hotel is convenient but nothing else to recommend it.

The Sofitel consists of two separate buildings in a complex with other hotels. Our group had their rooms upgraded to premier suites in the West Wing and these rooms were simply magnificent.
Rooms had a separate dressing room/large wardrobe, large seating area, separate work area, large beds and huge bathrooms.
The downside of this hotel is the fact that breakfast was served in the East Wing - fine when it was dry and you could walk between buildings. Less satisfactory when it was raining and you had to find the underground passage!
Breakfasts were excellent however.
Staff were attentive and helpful. Floristry throughout was superb.

Very good hotel for China - beds are soft and very comfortable with 'normal' western cushions etc... The maintenance of the hotel could be better - yes the jacuzzi has mould in it if you feel the walls below the water level. Also, to organise a car to drive us to Pingyao the concierge wanted to charge us over RMB10,000 which we organised by ourselves with an unknown (so we would have been charged extra) tour operator for RMB2,500. However staff in general were very helpful when they understood what we wanted. Please note when in Xi'an go to the "Real Love" restaurant on the 7th floor and the spa complex in front of the Little Pagoda (not the "Real Love" KTV complex in another location) which is a 10 minute cab ride from the hotel and it is WONDERFUL - food and spa are amazing.

We liked this hotel very much. Our room was beautiful-very comfortable and quiet with pretty decor. We had read the reviews on Trip Advisor before going (our trip was organized by China Odessy who did a great job) and so requested rooms in the East Wing-which is where the breakfast is.
One of our travelers required a wheelchair and unlike the other hotels we stayed in China (who provided one for free) the hotel made us put down a 500 uuan deposit-we got it back without trouble but we thought this was odd since they had our credit card number and could have charged us if we ran away with it.
Breakfast was okay-we had just come from the Regent in Beijing where it was wonderful but it did the trick.
Loved the Warriors. We would stay again at this hotel
