I was in Graz on business and chose the Mercure Graz City because of its convenient location. The hotel was adequate, not great but also not terrible.
Reception was friendly, and my room was rather large. While it was mostly clean, there was something on the wall (blood? chocolate? ketchup?) that was very noticeable and should have been dealt with by housekeeping. The bathroom had an odd, ineffective shower door that leaked water all over the floor. The hotel was quiet, though, and offered a limited but cheap room service menu. Breakfast was included and provided in the breakfast room off the lobby in the morning.
Although not fancy and utterly lacking in personality, the hotel is perfectly adequate for a no-fuss stay.

I visit Graz frequently, and as this is a newer hotel in the center, I decided to give it a try during a recent visit.
While the hotel is not quite as central as some others, and the surrounding neighborhood is slightly seedy (but safe) after dark, it is nonetheless very conveniently located about five minutes by foot from the main pedestrian area, and about 10 minutes from the castle. Public transport is right in front of the hotel.
The hotel is rather bland, from the all white exterior to the mostly white and wood interior. The rooms are comfortable, though, and as the hotel is fairly new, everything is in good condition and well-maintained. All rooms have a mini-bar, TV (with pay movies), WC with full bath, clothes rack with plenty of hangers, and individual AC/heat controls. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean.
Rooms face either inside towards the shared courtyard with the Billa supermarket next door, or outside towards the other buildings around. If you have the choice, take an inside room on a higher floor, and you will hear neither traffic noise nor early morning deliveries to the supermarket.
Breakfast costs € 11, and consists of a very ample buffet of all possible choices, including eggs, bacon, cheeses, coldcuts, smoked fish, breads, etc. The restaurant also serves dinner, but I did not dine there.
There is a fitness center in the hotel, but it is nothing special. A parking garage under the hotel is very convenient, but also quite steep at € 14 per day (parking at other hotels in the center averages € 8-12).
The best deals for this hotel are the restricted rates frequently offered on the hotel website.
There are more costly hotels in the center with more character, and there are also cheaper hotels with fewer amenities (such as the Etap, which is connected to this Mercure). If you want clean, efficient accommodation in a central location for a reasonable price, the Mercure Graz City should meet your expectations.

We were just passing through and needed a nice place to stay in. Luckily, they were able to accomodate us on short notice. The staff was very friendly and spoke good English. The hotel was nice. Our room was a good size with a clean and updated bathroom. The AC didn't cool great though. The carpet looked like it needed a good steam cleaning too. The breakfast was wonderful, one of the nicest buffets in this price range with a large selection including eggs, meats, pastries, fruits, and cereals. They allowed pets in the dining room though. That repulsed me a bit. There was a lady who entered after us with a small dog on a leash. There was a parking garage under the hotel which was very convenient. All in all, a good choice.

Graz enjoys an excellent reputation as a hub for companies developing new automotive solutions. This new place offers an excellent location for visiting the car manufacturers, R&D labs and supporting industries. Only 2 min to the railway station and airport train.
Bistro style restaurant offers food and drink almost 24 hours with other local restaurants, beer gardens, hot dog stations just around the corner or alongside the river Mur.
Rooms are light and large, staff however amazingly untrained for a chain like Accor. Do not expect too much from the wellness center. The sauna lacks any kind of pool, you have to walk thru the (3 piece equipment) fitness room to get to a single shower unit. Better switch to free internet screens in spending your leisure time.
When travelling on low budget, enter the building from the other side: then it is an ETAP brand and you save some 15 Euro per night.
