stayed a night at this hotel with Trafalgar Tours, located in Mannheim, which doesn't have many attractions but is a good stopover.
The room was modern and clean, with heaps of room and comfy beds. The only problem was a glass, nearly see through door to the bathroom, so this might be a problem if you are sharing with someone.
The restaurant was very good, and had the best wine in Europe, in our opinion. The breakfast was delicious.
Hotel staff were good and spoke English well, when we asked about using the internet, she went against company protocol to help us and informed us of a cheap internet cafe a few blocks down. Very nice of her to help.
No complaints whatsoever, thouroughly enjoyed the place.

Hôtel très confortable.
Très bonne isolation phonique, aucun bruit venant de l'extérieur, bien qu'ayant une chambre située vers la route.
Excellent petit-déjeuner.

We paid a mere 41 euro for a Saturday night stay in the Mercure in Mannheim, hence our expectations were low. We could not have been more surprised to find a very modern, functional and comfortable hotel with excellent and friendly staff. The whole hotel was perfect for an overnight stay (and even for a longer stay). The room was large and modern as was the bathroom. Everything was spotlessly clean and seemed very new (I'm guessing this hotel is less than a year old). There was CNN on the TV.
The hotel was situated a pleasant 10 min (max) walk to the city centre. There was a large underground carpark which we paid 10 euro for the night. There was also a lot of parking around the hotel on the street, however all spots were taken upon our arrival hence we used the carpark. This has to be the best Mercure I have stayed in for a while and I would definitely stay here again (and would happily pay more!)

The Mercure in Mannheim is a modern and functional hotel, offering a good selection of service and facilities. The staff are very helpful, and ensure that the stay goes according to plan. The lobby area is pleasant and so is the bar for a drink. The rooms are spacious and have comfortable beds. Breakfast, served in the modern restaurant is of good quality. It offers a hearty German breakfast including Eggs and Bacon and several other hot dishes, along with a good selection of cold meats and cheeses. The location of the hotel is fine, but perhaps a little out of the actual centre of the city. It is an ideal place to stay if visiting Heidelberg, as there is a tram which runs from Mannheim to Heidelberg regularly.
