We stayed in this hotel for a couple of nights while in Perpignan watching Hull KR after our original hotel, the Kyriad had been double booked by our tour operator.
Having stayed in the Kyriad last year our party preferred the Mercure, the hotel appeared cleaner and the staff were a lot more friendlier but overall there is very little to choose from the two hotels which are across a road and both within walking distance of the centre of Perpignan.
The hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment although there was no disruption during our stay.
The rooms were very tidy and cleaned daily, there was a safe and also a minibar which was great to avoid the high prices of beer in the town - with a local Spar just around the corner selling 6 packs for 4 Euros it was a great way to save money!
Breakfast was superb with a choice of local pastries, continental, fresh fruit and also English - the hotel even catered for us on our final day by starting breakfast early due to our departure time.
On the downside the bar in the hotel never seemed to be open but this did make for a nice peaceful hotel.

We needed an overnight stop hotel. This was absolutely fine! Used our airmiles to pay for it. Does exactly what you need for an overnight stop... clean sheets, good shower and a good brekkie to get you started the next day. Nothing more to say, except that the hotel seemed completely dead and Perpignan pretty much the same! Very bizarre!

Whilst this hotel is in need of a facelift, it's friendly staff and central location make up for the slightly shabby rooms. We stayed here for the second year running whilst visiting the area to watch Bradford Bulls play Catalan Dragons. The hotel is on the edge of the city centre - near enough to easily walk to all the shops and bars but far enough out not to be noisy. The only thing lacking in the hotel is a bar - any chance of one for next season?

Ideal location for Rugby League
Guest name: member, Warrington, Cheshire, England
We stayed at the Mercure Hotel, in Perpignon Town Centre when we went to watch Warrington R.L.F.C. play the Catalan Dragons in Super League.
It was the perfect location.
The town was across the road, and through the stone walls of the perimeter, where all the bars etc were located.
All the shopping for anyone not interested in the rugby, was right on the doorstep.
The hotel itself was a decent walk away from the ground, but on a sunny day would be a fairly pleasant jaunt.
The hotel is very much like a travel inn / lodge. The rooms are clean, tidy & more than adequate. Breakfast was good, (not if you like bacon, eggs, beans, sausage etc!) but the usual ham, eggs, continental stuff. more than adequate.
The other plus point, when you have sat in the sun all day and all evening, is that it is painted bright green, and is easily recognisable even after many beers!
If you want to use the hotel for the game, I could thoroughly recommend it.
