Cancellation Refund

If you book at this hotel and have to cancel as we did, you will not get any of your money back. We were told that a refund would not be possible, that their policy is no refund.
We booked Aug 30 for three nights for $363. on line, starting October 10th. Then we had to cancel our trip because of family illiness and cancelled on September 21st, that is 15 days in advance and we were told bluntly "no refund" that was their policy. I think this is very unreasonable and a rip off, that is a lot of money to us.
When reserving this hotel room, we were told that a a deposit would be charged to the card at the time of reserving, and full amount of stay payable in advance, and full deposit would not be refundable. It did not state that the three hundred and sixty three dollars would be taken out prior nor did it state that we would not get a refund if we had to cancel.

Un bell'hotel a 4* ma assolutamente impersonale. Personale educato e gentile, ma sempre troppo "professionale".
Stanze molto pulite ed ampie, ma con docce in vetro praticamente trasparente e la cui porta serviva da porta anche per la zona bagno.
Posizione un pò periferica, adatta a viaggi d'affari ma non molto buona per viaggi turistici.

This hotel is in a decent location, only two tram stops away from the Hauptbahnoff - however, there is not much in the area around the hotel. All the touristy sights are in the other direction, closer to the Hauptbahnoff.
When we arrived our room was not ready so we checked our luggage and went out exploring. I really liked how the hotel locks your bags in a room and gives you baggage tags to retrive them later - I felt very confident that someone couldn't just walk by and walk off with our bags.
This was theoretically the nicest hotel we stayed in on our trip (it was certaintly the most expensive) but the room was smaller than our hotel room in Munich (at the Mark Hotel) and the hotel lacked charm - it was just a big name hotel. The washroom was a decent size but lacked storage space.
My least favourite experience with this hotel came when my mother opened the window in our room and then about a second later I noticed a sign hanging on the latch saying not to open the windows because of a spider problem. We closed the windows in a hurry and seconds later a HUGE spider dropped down on a web outside our window. First of all, its HOT out - how can guests not be expected to open their windows? Second, if you KNOW you have a spider problem, why don't you do something about it? A little spider spray outside the windows will solve that problem!
All in all, I wasn't unhappy with this hotel, but it certainly wasn't my favourite.
