We booked this hotel on the day we arrived in Grasse so were not sure what to expect. Location is poor and you need a car to get to Grasse. Rooms are small albeit clean and has ac. Noisy corridoors. Bonus is the pool. Restaurant is ok at night however if you are expecting bread for breakfast, forget it. We arrived down with at least one hour to go before breakfast finished to find very little left of the buffet and no bread. When we asked we were ridiculed by a lady we think may have been the manager. Grasse itself is sweet but one can get round it very quickly.

I chose the city as it was outside Nice and thought it would be charming as its the perfume capital of the area... WRONG!! Its rundown and not even close to as charming as other places. Go to Arles or Nimes if you can... Nice was even a better choice... but by the time I realized it, I couldnt cancel the hotel. The hotel is rundown. The lobby is decent, but the halls and rooms are like a 2 star hotel. There was graffiti on the building too. This is part of the mercure hotel chain... I stayed in 3 and would only recommend one of them. Breakfast was really expensive and not worth it! The front staff was really nice though and the owner was lovely too. It also had a nice pool and courtyard.

We booked for 4 nights commencing 14 July 2007 and received a discount but with the proviso that the booking could not be cancelled & that payment would be taken in full whether we stayed or not. The hotel is some way outside Grasse and personal transport is essential. On arrival we were told that we had a superior room overlooking the pool. The room was tiny with a small amount of open hanging space for clothes and some tatty chipboard furniture which was falling apart. It was a non-smoking room but stank of cigarettes. On one side of bed the lamp was hanging off the wall and the shelf on other side was broken. The pool area was dirty and every piece of pool furniture was broken. We had the misfortune to coincide our stay with that of an American youth group who monopolised the pool area in the evenings and ran riot through the corridors until late at night. We went down to breakfast nearly 2 hours before they were due to stop serving. There was no bread or croissants, very little meat or cheese and a small amount of dried scrambled egg left. We complained to be told that there would be no more food for at least 15 minutes but, having complained again at reception, I was asked what I wanted to eat! I requested egg & bacon, as we had had in the previous Mercure that we stayed in, to be told "there is no bacon in France". Ten minutes later my egg & bacon arrived! All this for 13 euros each. Needless to say we did not have any further breakfasts in the hotel nor did we eat in the restaurant which was charging high prices for very ordinary fare. Grasse itself is a dump - it is dirty, overcrowded and has very few respectable places in which to eat or drink. Vence, a few miles away, is a much nicer place and, if you must visit the perfume factories, we suggest you stay there.

Very friendly reception staff who only wanted to be helpful. Amazing breakfast with wide variety of choice. Everything was clean and worked

Smart, clean hotel on the outskirts of Grasse. The room was very clean and well presented. Non-smoking rooms are available. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel restaurant was nice with dining available on the terrace. The menu choice was rather limited but very good - it was a pity that the restaurant was not open on saturday or Sunday evenings, although room service was available.
