We left for Paris on the freshly inaugurated Seattle-Paris Air France flight with little expectation. I had made last minute reservations through Priceline asking for a room for $120/night in the vicinity of Etoile for 2 nights. After getting off the Air France Bus in Etoile, we took a short stroll to the hotel. As we got closer to the hotel, I got increasingly nervous. We were approaching a very busy, loud, large street. It also did not help that the entrance to the hotel was understated and fairly small. Once in the hotel, I was comforted by seeing the posted rates behind the reception clerk listed as 305Er/night. I felt a hotel which is normally this expensive must offer good accomodations.
Entering the room was porbably the most rewarding experience throughout all my travels. The rooms are decked out in very nice modern furnishings and all sorts of mood LED lights that are the craze in all of France (ranging from toilet rooms to TGV cabins). I can not say enough about the noise control in the rooms. We could not hear even a bird chirp outside. The shower was very nicely designed. The bed was roomy and very comfortable. I am very particular about the linen used in hotels. In fact, I always back my own sheets and it is rare that I feel comfortable in hotel sheets (even at four seasons). Somehow, I felt entirely comfortable in their linen (did not smell like caustic detergent etc.). Additional the staff were hospitable. The hotel is located in a desirable neighborhood w/ all sort of metro stations nearby. I highly recommend this hotel, specially if you can get a good deal on it through Priceline.

Modern Parisian Hotel

Modern hotel, located on a main street about 4 blocks from the Arc de Triomphe & M1 Metro line (Charles DeGaulle Etoille stop).
Actual name of hotel is "Mercure Paris Arc De Triomphe Etoile", a 3-star on 27 avenue des Ternes.
Rooms aren't like the hotel's photos above--they're new and nicer. Think "IKEA meets Paris"...hardwood floors, comfortable beds with duvets, flatscreen TV. Rooms were clean and spacious, and large enough for 2 people with luggage. As the previous guest wrote, there's no door/privacy for the shower and vanity. (Plus, if you prefer a shower, be sure to request it, otherwise you'll get a bathtub with a hand-mounted shower nozzle 2 feet off the ground.) Front desk staff were very friendly, except for one night clerk who was a grouch.
The only thing I disliked is my room on the lower floor was noisy, even with soundproof windows. They were doing construction on the roof while I was there, and was awakened at 9am on Sunday a.m. by debris crashing into a dumpster.
You can take the Air France bus from CDG airport to the Charles DeGaulle Etoille bus stop for 20 Euros RT, which is very convenient and takes less than an hour from airport. The Termes Metro stop is less than 2 blocks from the hotel, and you can make an easy connection to the main M1 line.
On Saturdays and Sundays, there's a picturesque, local Parisian market just across Ave. des Termes near the FNAC electronics store, which sells bread, flowers, meat, seafood and wine. It's a great way to experience a true Parisian market, buy food for a picnic, or grab breakfast.
If you don't mind taking the Metro, this is a great location. For those who don't want to walk or navigate the Metro, you would want to stay closer to Notre Dame or Louvre area, although I thought this was a great choice.

Ideal budget place to stay for a short break in Paris.
Rooms are modern and very clean. Coffee/tea minibar(limited) in room. Beds new and comfy with duvets. Good aircon. Soundproofed windows but a bit noisy from floor above. Bathrooms no doors so only share with someone you know! Toilet does have a door.
Selection of toiletries is above average.
Very helpful and accommodating reception staff.
Didn't stay for breakfast but the selection looked good. There is a PAUL patisserie across the road and a Monoprix express next door.
Close to the Metro Ternes and Charles de Gaulle Etoile where the airport shuttle stops.

I used to live in Europe, and have stayed at this hotel many times. It is in a great location, and it's always clean. Whenever I go back to Paris for vacation, I always check for availibility, but it is often full.
Highly recommended!
