Traveled to Avignon for business and stayed here for 3 nights. It was awful. Very shabby. A/C barely worked. Room was dimly lit. No towels in b/r. Pool is shared w/birds and cats. Door to small balcony was broken. Drapes were dirty. An overall bad experience. Could not wait to leave.

Well, arriving from Paris was nice. Trains have sooo much more leg room than planes. Unfortunately Bastille Day has travelling effects all over France, not just Paris. With no buses, we had to get a taxi. The place seemed a little shady when we pulled up with the gates and all, but it was actually a very nice hotel. There was nothing really to see on the way to the hotel.
I'm not sure how much English the receptionists speak...sometimes I wondered if they pretended not to.
The room had kind of a wild look to it. The carpets had a zebra stripe pattern to them. The room was what I would call large considering the small size of rooms across Europe. The bathroom was also large...well except the toilet section which was seperate and small....possibly claustrophobic to some.
We had the penne rigota pasta with asparagus, sun ripened tomatos and artichoke hearts that was excellent.
Not sure I would swim in the pool.... at night the cats drink from it and in the morning the birds drink from it. Otherwise it seemed nice, as was the courtyard.

nous avons séjourné 3 nuits, d'abord au 3e étage (vue très laide sur le toit plat avec les installations techniques...mais pas le bruit qu'on aurait peut être plus eu côté rue) puis au rez de chaussée devant la piscine, plus pratique pour les allées et venues;
- personnel aimable, serviable et souriant;
- cuisine pas congelée ou quelconque, mais de la recherche et de la fraîcheur - rouget très bon- les gros appétits pourront trouver les portions un peu radines; prix raisonnables;
- chambre spacieuse, très propre, mais bricolage bienvenu pour des détails (la clim marchait moyen dans la 2e chambre, WC mal scellé);

This is a standard motel type hotel, but comfortable with friendly English speaking staff and air conditioning that works. The pool is superb.and after a hot day trudging around Avignon, what better than to come back to your hotel and relax in and around the pool. At first, the surroundings look a bit dodgy and the car park is gated but we always felt secure. It is on a busy crossroads and the most common sound is the two tone emergency sirens. Nevertheless it is quiet within the hotel and we also took advantage of the over 55s discount on breakfast.
It is a short ride into Avignon and there is plenty of parking in the underground Palais du Papes car park, which is accessible from the ring road and well signed. The hotels within the city walls maybe more convenient, but it was good to get away from the hustle and heat of the city towards our oasis of peace by the pool. There is also a large commercial centre a few minutes drive in the opposite direction with a huge Carrefour supermarket, where prices are more sensible for those everyday needs. It also has a grand selection of wines on offer.
The hotel can be full during the day with business conferences but these should have little effect on the leisure traveller.
