Stayed here for 3 nights in July 2008. It is an old palace home, but has been throughly modernized. The staff is professional and speaks good English. It has air conditioning and is quiet. One cute feature is that the television has a channel that is exclusively dedicated to "The Sound of Music." About the location. There has been some disagreement in prior postings about the convenience of the walk into the old town of Salzburg. It took me about 10-15 minutes each way at a comfortable pace. I found the walk a tad long when added to all the other walking that is required to properly enjoy Salzburg. It wasn't miserable, but I had been spoiled by a really great downtown location in Vienna. After a long day on my feet and when it got warm, it was a little longer than I would have liked, but it was doable. I suppose I could have paid a couple Euros to take the bus, or a few more for a taxi. Instead, I counted the walk against the dessert with whipped cream that I enjoyed every day.

Excellent Hotel in Salzburg

We just returned from three nights in Salzburg and a wonderful stay at Castellani Parkhotel. Previous reviews have knocked this hotel on location, smoke and its orientation toward business travelers and we found none of those knocks were warranted. Salzburg is a walker's town and it took us ten minutes to walk to the center; smoke was not an issue and we are folks who do not care for smoke; the pleasure travelers were equal to the business travelers and the hotel caters to both. Our room was nice, modern and very clean; breakfast was varied, ample and high quality; the restaurant and bar were excellent, with Robert in the restaurant giving excellent service and recommendations on what to see and do in Salzburg; the terrace is wonderful for a drink or reading; and the front desk was pleasant and helpful. All of this for very affordable rates in May. Salzburg is such a jewel of a town - walk it until your feet cannot take anymore!

Date: 14.10.07 Reviewer: M & S, Yorkshire, UK We chose this hotel, after reading other Trip Advisor reviews, for our 10th Anniversary celebration. We were not disappointed. We chose a superior room which was a good choice - it was spotlessly clean, we had dressing gowns, slippers and there were plenty of toiletries. There was a wide choice of hot & cold food at breakfast although occassionally items were not replenished. There are two restaurants though on our visit only one appeared to be open. The staff were obliging and attentive at all times. Though the hotel is away ftrom the centre, approxiamately 15/20 minutes walking, it is easily accessed by trolley bus (most days every 10 minutes) - A tip here: if you are only interested in getting around buy a day or weekly ticket which you buy from the tobacconists{TABAK). These are much cheaper than the Salzburg card - although there is no free access to museums/attractions etc. We would definately stayat this hotel again.

EL PERSONAL- agradable, servicial y hablaba inglés perfectamente. COMIDA Y COMODIDADES- Todo de muy buena calidad. El spa era maravilloso y estaba bien equipado. Las habitaciones estaban inmaculadas y el servicio de limpieza por todo el hotel era impecable. UBICACIÓN- Lejos del centro de la ciudad y se necesita transporte público o privado para moverse por ahí. INSTALACIONES- las instalaciones para gente de negocios eran buenas- el acceso a Internet es barato, las salas de reuniones están bien equipadas. EN GENERAL- un hotel excelente y una buena base desde donde explorar la preciosa ciudad de Salzburgo.
