The title of this review says it all. The hotel was superb; everyone of the staff I encountered could not have behaved better; the restaurant and service in it were exemplary.
I was booked in to the Hotel de la Ville by people at the Monza track, so did not know what to expect. It was a fantastic experience and definitely one to be savoured. If anyone wishes to stay in Monza, do try to stay at this wondeful hotel

Standard, businessman's, upscale hotel. Good service, but stuffy, dated decor and smaller rooms. Bar prices were extraordinary--$17 for a martini!

We spent two days staying at HDLV in April before travelling on to Grand Hotel Tremezzo at Lake Como.
The hotel itself is very well placed for the centre of Milan, but the staff were not very friendly and seemed uninterested in making sure we had a pleasant stay.
The worst example of this was in the bar, where we thought we could get an evening snack the first night. Usually when staying at hotels, the bar staff are very attentive and will come to serve you after you have sat down for a while. We wauted for 15 minutes and as we had not attracted the attention of the barman, I went to see if he could serve us. Being a polite /reticent person I did not barge in and interrupt him as he was reviewing some paperwork. However after he looked up, did not either ask if he could help or say he would serve me shortly, he actually moved a few yards away and continued to ignore me.
After waiting for a few more minutes, we gave up and found a very nice restaurant just about 20 yards across the road from the hotel entrance.
Overall the stay was OK, but do not think we would return.
