We love Jerez - it's a great little city and this Ibis is a super find. I originally picked it for the price - and found a gem!
It's easy to reach, free parking, very friendly staff. Yes, the rooms are basic but it has a pool, which is tiny but fab after a day in town, and all for about 50 euros a night. It's not posh, but it's not downmarket either.
Don't bother walking to town - the taxi ride is fast and inexpensive, or there is underground parking by the Alcazar.
Visit Jerez in September for the Autumn Festival, there's something happening almost every day. Be brave, and follow the locals.
Drive to El Puerto de Santa Maria for a the maddest seafood lunch at Romerijo, see the dancing horses, tour a sherry house, enjoy pre-dinner drinks at Bereber, and especially do not miss a chill-out at the wonderful Arab Baths.

We stayed in the Ibis as part of a group trip for sherry tasting. We had a great time, the rooms tho basic were very clean, plentiful buffet breakfast, small but nice pool. The staff (especially Rocio) were very helpful with our many questions, requests for restaurant recommendations / reservations and taxi orders. The walk into town was 15 minutes on a gradual uphill slope. Although it was beside the main road, the hotel still felt peaceful (although maybe not so much once we were all in it!)

IBIS know how to run affordable hotels for car owners ! This one is visible from the main road heading south from Jerez towards Cadiz. Next door is the very large Carrefour shopping store which is well worth exploring - there is also a McDonalds and other facilities on this same site.
The hotel is clean and typical IBIS chain. No bath though but more than adequate shower. The outdoor pool area is great for a quick dip and a laze. The staff very attentive and kind. The hotel is a good base for touring with car as you can easily get on the road south or inded head west to Sanlucar or Chiclana or Rota. To get to the centre of Jerez is quite a longish walk uphill - maybe 20 minutes to get to the entrance for the Gonzales Byass sherry tour - but it was a lot easier returning downhill! The taxi fare is not much.
I find that navigating the city roads in a car sometimes quite confusing so being able to park and find IBIS was a bonus.
