Had booked but after looking at 3 rooms decided not to stay. Unidentified huge stains & splats on wall and ceiling in one room, wonky bed in next room shown and no double glazing at back overlooking dual carriageway. Needs some serious maintenance.

well what can i say the hotel was average. the staff terrible and breakfast was very poor, the room itself was basic. overlooking a ring road. and quite noisy, the room was clean but very basic. if you dont drive to this hotel expect about a 5 to 10 minute wait to cross the road to the hotel a heavy influx of traffic makes it very difficult to get to, also to note that getting to the entrance of the hotel requires stepping over a fence fine if you drive as parking is available, the breakfast costing 5.50 was poor it consisted of doughy croissants.bread that was hard and cooked meats that were dry and boiled eggs that were cooked too long, the staff were not very helpful we checked in and were seen to by a ponytailed arrogant man who thought he was the business. all in all it was an average hotel, the cleaners kept the place very clean but very average hotel

Had a pleasant stay at the Ibis. Staff were pleasant, smiling and efficient at check-in, breakfast and check-out. Room was standard Ibis - sufficient room, clean and in good repair. Large walk-in shower and good lighting in bathroom. My room was at the front of the hotel looking out onto the Lordsmill roundabout, but no problems with noise at all. It was a bit irritating that to get standard TV channels you had to go through a couple of menus.
Location was great - easy access to M1 and bypass to Sheffield (also just a short drive to some of the best of the Peak district countryside). From the hotel entrance turn right for a couple of minutes walk into town for bars / restaurants (Siam Corner does an amazing Thai experience). Or turn left for a couple of minutes walk to Cannons Gym, Cinema, Frankie & Bennies & McDonalds. Both of these walks do involve crossing busy roads, but there are pedestrian crossings available if you are a 'nervous crosser' (but it does mean you walk further!!)

This is my third visit to Chesterfield and our first weekend break there. Having had two very unpleasant stays at an 'hotel from hell' in the same town, We chose to stay at the Ibis as I know what to expect at an Ibis and I wasn't wrong!
The duty receptionist welcomed me like an old friend (hardly surprising since we remembered each other when she worked at the 'other' hotel).
The room was spacious, well-equipped and standard Ibis format - Yes, we managed to adjust the heating controls and kept out the traffic noise! Incidentally, the front rooms do not give you a view of Chesterfield's famous crooked spire!
Dinner in the restaurant was good value for money, enjoyable and you know what to expect from an Ibis. If you want a good American-style cooked breakfast, go to Frankie & Benny's just 10 minutes walk in a restaurant/cinema complex.
Had a great stay there and wish I knew about this hotel before I did my business trips to this town!

It all started to turn bad during checkin. The chap on reception spoke very little English. He was assisted after a while by another receptionist.
The room is what you would expect for a budget room.
However the windows have limited opening and the room was like a sauna. The room overlooked a dual carriage way road and the noise was impossible. It did go quiet at 3am until about 5.30am. This is when I got some sleep. Never again !
Real shame.
