Very nice, clean hotel, completely non smoking. Quiet area but close to everything. Breakfast is offered at a charge, and internet is also available at a charge. Friendly, helpful front desk.

Took the recommendations of fellow T.A. travelers when searching for a reasonably-priced spot over a long weekend in Melbourne. No surprizes...exactly what prior travelers had described.
The rooms are small but clean, comfortable and well appointed. The location is a bit on the "seedy" side near the Southern Cross railway station and adjoins numerous low-cost spots for youthful backpackers. A few of the homeless were evident in the area. But there was no feeling of uneasiness or insecurity.
The staff was young and helpful and the breakfast buffet, included in the room price, was a great way to start each morning.
We're practical travelers - not wishing to spend extra $$$ on a hotel when so little time is to be spent there. We seek safe, clean and reasonable spots and this fit the category perfectly. We'd return without any hesitation.

I stayed 2 nights in Ibis Little Bourke St in May 2008 on a business trip.
I was pleased with the friendly staff in the hotel as well as the clean and comfortable room. The room had a iron & ironing board, coffee maker, hairdryer, big plush towels, flat screen TV, fridge - too much for an Ibis actually.
The hotel is situated on the lower end of Little Bourke Street, about 3 mins walk to DFO (Direct Factory Outlet) shopping mall and Soutnern Cross train station.
If you drive, you have to park in a garage on Spencer St for A$13 per day. The garage is about 300m from the hotel.
I only ate breakfast in the hotel on 1 day because it was expensive - A$17.50 for a buffet style breakfast - not good value for money. If you walk up Little Bourke St, there are several cafes where you could grab breakfast.
You have to ask for a "WiFi room" if you need internet access. I believe rooms on the upper floors do not have internet access.
Will I stay here again? Yes.

Hotel Ibis Little Bourke Street is located at the western end of Little Bourke Street, making it a great location with Spencer Street Station and the DFO across the road.
It’s a great little hotel, value for money, clean and well presented rooms and a super buffet breakfast for $16 (can be even cheaper if you take a breakfast inclusive package like we did). We loved the make your own waffles and the breakfast was nicer and hotter than some of the other ‘fancy’ hotels in the city.
Rooms aren’t the largest size, but they don’t claim to be, this is a budget hotel. Worth paying the extra to have a king room (I have been lucky enough to be upgraded in the past) but as I said they are some of the cleanest rooms in the city – housekeeping do a superb job! Rooms are fairly quiet too, we stayed Friday and Saturday night and didn’t hear any noise from the street.
The restaurant at the Ibis only offers breakfast and no room service, however there are so many options in this beautiful city, that isn’t really an issue. The hotel is also just a short walk from the Crown Casino and Telstra Dome.
DemonTraveller’s hot tip – take the Skybus from the Airport and once you get into the city, out the front doors of Southern Cross Station (the station formerly known as Spencer Street Station), across the road into Little Bourke Street and you are at the hotel! No more waiting for the hotel transfer shuttle bus!
Would I stay here again? Absolutely. Ideal for the footy, a night out, a weekend away or an event. Bargain find in my favourite city.

I had a nice week-long stay here for a conference across town. Well priced, clean rooms, air con, helpful staff, excellent (if v expensive) breakfast; but you can book a room without including the latter. Functional, modern furnishings with a usable fitted desk and a comfortable bed. The location was just fine, very close to the station and only a short walk from a range of restaurants for dinner (they don't provide this). Don't expect much of a view - I had big windows that just looked across the street to into another skyscraper. But it wasn't really a problem, still got lots of light into the room. My only complaint is that in this day and age they really should have wifi instead of a very expensive single internet kiosk in reception. Apart from this and the price of breakfast, I thought it was overall good value for money and I'd stay there again.
