The name suggests that the hotel is IN the World Square, but in fact it is across the rod in Pitt St, (next door to Civic Hotel).
Once i found it, the welcome was warm and easy.
The rooms are typical IBIS rooms, small but very clean and tidy. The bathroom was also very clean.
I had the Winter special which also included Buffett breakfast. The breakfast is on the second floor, and is bright and airy. While i was there some 100+ american kids were there, but there was little or no noise. th rooms were soundproof and the kids were well behaved.
The hotel is close to lots of little resturants and cafes, and the Hotel Civic is just nest door. A short walk to Town Hall Station (800-900 mts)

I recently stayed at this property for one night upon arrival in Sydney from Canada. I have to say, after staying at numerous Ibis hotels in Europe I was not impressed with this one. I have usually found the Ibis hotels to be basic yet super clean. The room I was given needed an extremely cleaning. The carpet was filthy, the walls were all marked, the bathroom was not as clean as it should have been and the bed sheets had stains on them. There are plenty of other economical accomodations in the area, I would not stay at this Ibis again.

Booked thru Accor...so got an OK price...$AU126.00...rang them first and was told parking was available, but they neglected to mentioned it was in a parking station a block away....anyway....they have a deal with the parking station so overnight it was only $25.00...still if I'd known I would have gone elsewhere as I'd read the reviews here before I booked...the other reviews are accurate....its a basic hotel...clean, small rooms...staff not over helpful but not rude...it's in Chinatown so interesting...and plenty of shops around...close to everything....would I stay there again....nah don't think so.

We stayed in this Hotel for 4 nights in March 2008. The location is good but a little bit dodgy. The room was quite clean and spartan. The service was not exceptional (staff competent but no better), but not bad either. The shower hadn't the curtain, so after a shower the WC/shower was totally flooded. This hotel is really too expensive for what it is and for the service it offer.

I stayed here for a few days, followed by another day in late January 2008.
This is a fairly basic Hotel in a good Location. I wandered back a few times late at night and felt safe. (Try wandering through Kings Cross late at night for an interesting experience)
Didn't use the Restaurant, it was a couple of days in until I realise there was one.
It is right next to a fairly big shopping centre so just went across there for food and supplies.
It has the feel of a converted office block. I would just say it is an average Hotel to stay at for a few days, don't think I would go back after seeing the really nice Hotels down at Darling Harbour.
