Great location

A stay at the Ibis Hotel in Therry Street Melbourne is a great selection. The location is perfect for visiting the Victoria Markets - not far to drag all your spoils back to the hotel. Its close to Swanston Street trams taking you into the city Central area. You can walk to Lygon Street, even down to China Town and Melbourne Central station/shopping centre.
The hotel itself has just been refurbished (well, they're working on it right now). Our room had just been done. Shower heads are a little on the low side for tall people. Rooms have all that you need. They even have some apartments with microwave and lounge areas. A buffet breakfast is supplied to most bookings otherwise its $17.50. They have a happy hour from 4 - 6pm and a buffet evening meal for $19.00
Expected better from Ibis

Ibis on Therry Street is in a pretty good location i.e next to Victoria Station. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rates are reasonable and rooms are basic.
Apart from that, you have to pay extra for additional items-50 cents per min for broadband internet, AUD $5.00 a day for using the safe in the room.
Breakfast was so disapointing,we couldn't be bothered waking up the following day to have it although we had already paid for it.
Would only stay here again, if I couldnt find anywhere else better.

The location is great. It's 2 mins from the Queen Victoria Market, where you can get good value meals and great choices of deli food if you're packing lunch.
It's also 2 mins from the tram stations on Elizabeth Street and Swanston Street respectively, where you can catch a tram to most places around the city.
The neighbourhood also seems safe enough to walk around. We went out after 10pm one evening and didn't get back until 2am; and were walking to and fro the city.
Check-in was efficient, and the staffs were friendly. They gave us a map and pointed out near-by sights and how to get around when we were checking in. Rather helpful.
The room we had was perfect for our needs. It's a 2-bedroom suite with 1 double and 2 single beds; and there were 3 of us. The rooms are of good size, though surrounded by office buildings. Not much of a view.
There's a small living area with a couch and TV, which allows us to chill. We also had a small pantry area with a microwave and kettle, and basic cutlery and crockery. We didn't use them, but these will be handy for people who want to have a quick breakfast or simple meal in their room.
The bathroom and toilet are separate and there're 2 basins, which is more convenient when you have a few people sharing a room. They are very basic and clean, but do not expect marble top or designer toiletries.
At the price that we're paying, we really have no complaints and find it really good value. The only thing is that the hotel seems to be going through some renovations, and we stayed on the floor right below the ones being renovated. They do start around 7.30am in the morning! Fortunately, we had to get up quite early on both days we're there; it could be unbearable otherwise.

Bouquets: Very clean room. Housekeeping staff did a very good job. Woman bar staff member very helpful in sourcing 2 boxes I needed (reception staff couldnt be bothered - too lazy!) Nice meals.
Brickbats: Non-existent customer service. eg No porter service, did not receive wake-up call morning of departure, (thankfully had back-up) reception staff need immediate re-training in customer service - surly & unhelpful. Had eaten 3 times in restaurant - on checking account on departure found I had been charged TWICE on EACH occasion! One incorrect charge I could accept, but three?? Please! Something 'dodgy' going on here! On two occasions, kitchen staff came out & helped themselves to buffet - NOT a good look when diners in restaurant! Requested Survey Form from Accor Management over a week ago but no reply. So I guess one cant blame staff too much when Management dont bother to acknowledge customers! Travel a lot and will never recommend this Hotel to anyone or stay here again!

We stayed here during the tennis open. It is two blocks from the victoria market(fun) and reception was the most helpful of any places we stayed. A Mr. Joe Daly was very helpful.
