Stayed here for 3 nights over Easter 2008 with a group of others in a classic car club. Good points - the hotel is easy to find, it has a secure (paid for) garage and is clean. Not so good - the rooms are very small and unusually for Germany, we found many of the staff sprechen keine Englisch, so a good opportunity to practise and improve your German!
We stayed for 3 nights and were unable to unpack our bag, being forced to live out of a suitcase as there was only hanging space for a couple of coats and very little or no shelf space. I have never seen a bathroom so small, either - I know you don;t generally need a lot of space, but having to exit the smallest room to pull your trousers back up is a *bit* excessive.
Most of the staff seemed to be Polish, Russian or from the former East Germany, judging by their name badges and the languages they did speak. But we got by without too much problem.
So, if you are only staying for one night, it's fine - but for a longer stay, I'd find somewhere else.

Great breakfast, terrible beds!

I guess you get what you pay for here. It was as cheap as chips and so we shouldn't have expected comfort! The bed was REALLY uncomfortable, partly because there was only 1 very thin pillow on each bed, so we asked for another pillow and were told that there weren't any. Seriously. This hotel has 147 rooms and NO extra pillows anywhere in the building?? So we ended up folding up our clothes and sleeping on them to make it more comfy. The bathroom was adequate and would remind you of the bathrooms on a ferry. However the breakfasts were great.

I've been to the Hotel Ibis Bonn twice, and it's located quite close to central Bonn which is good. To me, I found the Ibis Bonn OK - I've stayed in much better and I've stayed in much worse accommodation. It's on a busy road so it can be quite noisy and the food isn't great and let's put it this way - I've known much friendlier staff than the staff in the Ibis Bonn. On the plus side, it's great for exploring Bonn and isn't far from sights such as the Beethovenhaus and Bonn Rathaus (town hall) and Bonn is a lovely city to visit, and a great short break that not many people think of. Also the rooms are very clean and en-suite, but not very big. To me it was bordering on 3* accommodation, but not quite there! Still for a short break and for those on a budget, it's perfectly fine but if you insist on grand splendour and 5* hotels then this isn't the place for you! It's definitely a no-frills attached, average hotel in the centre of Bonn.

Not so great

I spent a miserable few nights in the Ibis in Bonn during a heat wave. The rooms are not air conditioned, and the hotel is located right on one of the "ring" roads around Bonn. Consequently, with the windows open, it was quite noisy. The staff was fairly indifferent. The room was quite clean and bright, however.
Perhaps in the winter (with the windows closed) my experience would have been better.
