Ibis is a good place to stay in an overcrowded Constanta (at least in the summer). It has a nice sea view, the beach is accross the street (even though not exactly the beach of your dreams), and is clean. As a plus, you get a very good fitness center (expect to pay about 6 euros for a training session). If you stay there, go a have a nice luch at Cafe Cafe, which is a quite new restaurant. It's a very nice place, just 3 minutes walk from the hotel.

Nice hotel in an improving city. I went to Constanta on a business trip. The hotel is about 30 minutes by shuttle from the airport, situated near many downtown eateries and pubs. The rooms were small but comfortable and clean, in good condition, strong water pressure in the walk-in shower, with free 128 kbps broadband internet connection (bring a cable or you'll have to "rent" one for about $4). Breakfast costs an additional 10 Euro and was pretty good, with a good selection of hot and cold items and just about the strongest coffee I've ever had in my life. I reserved a seaview room on the hotel website for 64 Euro including all taxes.

Stayed in Constanta in March of 2006. Excellent Hotel! We were very happy with this hotel. Very clean, quiet and great staff. WiFi downstairs and right on the beach too. Great location. I would not stay at any other hotel. Went to Bucharest a few days later, but to a different hotel (not Ibis). Not good, we saw an Ibis sign and got our stuff and moved to Ibis in Bucharest. Also, the prices was much better for so much more and so much nicer. Trust me, you will be happy there. The food was good, but we went to other places to eat... why stay at the hotel all the time anyway? Had great tea and coffee. I highly recommend La Scoica in Constanta, it was great. Again, let me say, Ibis is the best hotel. Staff very professional, polite and nice. They were great, helpful and patient and told of nearby places to see and eat. This is the Only hotel I will stay at, in that part of the world. Oh, and the pillows were sooooooo soft and the beds were perfect! I never slept so good or was so comfortable! When I was there in 2006, it was new, just a couple years old I think. Great staff, great hotel. Thanks Ibis!

What childish and negative reviews! Have these people no idea of the world beyond what is obviously a sheltered and pampered life they must lead elsewhere?. Guess what? people and places are the same no matter where one lives or stays, one just has to open ones eyes and see it and feel it for what it is and instead of bringing the old standard pre-assumptions and comparisons to bare on a new experience, learn from it, see it positively and most of all, especially in a country like Romania, be aware of the history and the disadvantages other people have had in their lives and cultures through no real fault of their own. Understand that, open your eyes and for goodness sake don't look for sanctuaries in such places but get out and explore and enjoy this varied world we live in, help and support it and please be more positive. I am a UK journalist based, by choice here in Constanta and believe me there is more peace, honesty, realism and positive thinking that one finds in the west, one of the reasons of course the 'sanctuaries' are going to hell in a hand. I spent 2 nights at Ibis last week. Wasn't my first stay at Ibis so I knew what to expect. Hotel is clean and exactly what I would consider for a 3* hotel. Breakfast although could be improved. Also, I havent really understand why minibar was empty and no roomservice available. I would definetely recommend it for business trips since there are not too many alternatives specially for winter.
