My wife and I stayed at the Ibis for 2 nights whilst visiting Townsville. We were pleased that the room was clean and quiet and were delighted with the comfortable bed (king double, room 234). The hotel is not for those who want sweeping views of the ocean or those who need the freedom of a balcony - but it is ideal for those who need a room and a bed for a short stay. There are ample places to eat and drink within a few steps of the front door and the ground floor restaurant was good for breakfast and a late night drink before bed. All in all, very pleased. There is construction taking place nearby, but no work was being done whilst we were in the hotel so unable to comment on possible impact.

We stayed here the night after driving from Mackay. The establishment is located on Palmer Street which is a popular Restaurant strip. Palmer Street is located on the opposite side of the Ross River to the main street, Flinders St, of Townsville. Brand new building with the normal facilities of an Ibis Motel. Relatively small rooms, but the facilities are always modern and in good order. Good for a 1 or 2 night stay, but not good for a long stay due to the small size of the rooms. The staff were very helpful as always. I have stayed in Townsville on several occasions and this would be the best standard I have stayed in out of all.

We have just arrived pack from a night at the Ibis townsville. One of the reviews here mentions a balcony. There are no balconys in this hotel. Our room looked out to the car park and the windows cannot be opened.
Another says the rooms are spacious.. that is so far from the truth its not funny. We had a room with queen bed and there would have been about 1 metre of room around the edge of the bed.. well maybe 2 metres on the side where the built in desk was. We had 2 adults and one smal child in our room and it is the smallest room i have ever stayed in. The bathroom is also tiny. You cant open the door completely as it hits the toilet. Just a shower, no room for a bath.
The staff are lovely, hotel is new, beds are comfy and all things in room clean and modern. Great shower heads.
I just felt it was a shame for Ibis to skimp on room size for profit as this is a newly built hotel. At $110 i dont think this was a bargain. I would not stay here again.. purely on room size. The location and staff are great.
Note there is no pool. The restaurant Cactus Jacks across the road is good.
Ideal for visiting Townsville

We did not see this hotel at it's best as the previous few days it had been flooded out and all the ground floor rooms were being dried out. However our first floor room was adequate and we had a balconied room overlooking the pool and the currently being constructed marina. Unfortunately both pools were out of action as they were contaminated with flood water. It is possible to walk into the centre of town in about ten minutes.

We booked the Ibis for its location and new construction. Also, several locals had told us that the Ibis was a good bet. We were not disappointed on either count. It's walking distance to The Strand, Flinders Mall (Cotter's Market) and countless eateries and bars. The room was minimalist in a trendy way. Space was cosy, but there was enough room to move and everything was spotlessly clean. I wouldn't want to spend all day there, but I had no plans to stay in the room all day, so it didn't bother us. The bar/ restaurant on the first level is wonderful, however I would recommend a room away from the restaurant. We were on the second floor initially, close to the restaurant and when the iron chairs were dragged in from and out to the curb to ready for dinner and breakfast we were woken up. The Ibis moved us immediately with apologies. My only problem was the internet charges! 50 cents per minute!
