10 minutes level walk across park to bus station. Room clean and comfortable. Access to hotel entrance obscurely positioned behind Novatel.

Rotorua is well worth seeing. Loads to see and do. Beware of a Maori Concert and dinner if it entails a bus ride. The bus drivers are MAD. The IBIS Hotel was below standard. Double Room included a single bed, which made it nearly impossible to walk around the room. Not Good. If you get this hotel in any itinerary and you have the opportunity to change it. DO IT>

Cental hotel on 4 floors. We were on the 4th floor in a recently re-decorated room. Lake views, large bed, fridge, safe, ensuite, plenty of towels & toiletries. Breakfast was $19 per person for cooked & continental.

Stayed here recently while at a conference in Rotorua. It was a clean enough room, though mine didn't have a view at all. The location was fantastic in terms of being able to stroll through town and down to the lakeside. A few things were just a bit tired though - the bathroom was TINY and the shower leaked all over the bathroom floor even with the door shut tight. Horrible linen and no spares to be found in the cupboards. The staff were really nice (the guy in the restaurant brought some food up to my room when I ordered it even though the Ibis don't do room service) and friendly. The restaurant was pretty terrible, just as there were few options and they were all fairly nasty types of food, but I found out later you could actually go to the brasserie at the Novotel and still charge it back to your room at Ibis. I found out too late though! All in all a fairly bland experience, but good enough for a business trip.

Abbiamo alloggiato una notte allo Ibis Hotel Rotorua ad aprile 2007. Abbiamo pagato $116 senza prenotare e abbiamo ricevuto una camera normale per un Ibis, al quarto piano con vista del lago. Compreso nel prezzo c’era il rumore degli operai impegnati in una ristrutturazione. Il personale della reception è stato molto gentile e davvero disponibile nel modo migliore possibile – era davvero visibile il loro impegno nel cercare di offrire un servizio clienti di alto livello senza aspettarsi niente in cambio. Non hanno cercato di venderci prodotti come una gita o un’escursione a pagamento, come avviene in altri motel o Bed&Breakfast dove ci siamo fermati a chiedere informazioni sulle camere prima di arrivare all’Ibis (gli altri ci erano sembrati poco convincenti). La camera era piccola ma nella media di un albergo a tre stelle, era ben arredata e aveva un buon letto matrimoniale. La camera era stata liberata da poco e, prendendone possesso, ci siamo accorti che la pulizia del bagno era stata un po’ lacunosa. Comunque, dopo aver chiamato la reception, in pochi minuti è arrivato un addetto delle pulizie che ha corretto tutte le lacune. L’Ibis è in buona posizione in una zona tranquilla della città, è vicino al lago, ai parchi e i giardini, e apochi passi dai negozi, i ristoranti e l’intrattenimento della città. Col Novotel accanto, è probabilmente l’albergo meglio ubicato della città, distante da Fenton Street dove si trovano molti degli altri alberghi e motel, con tutto il traffico e il rumore che ciò comporta. Non abbiamo avuto alcun problema durante il nostro soggiorno. Avendo mangiato molto bene al Maori Hungai la sera precedente, abbiamo scelto di non fare colazione al buffet, accontentandoci solo di un caffè e una banana in camera nostra prima di andarcene. In sintesi, è un albergo con personale gentile e disponibile, con un buon rapporto qualità/prezzo, e in una delle posizioni migliori di Rotorua.
