I ended up at the Ibis because all other hotels in Mons were full due to the St Georges/Spring festival. I was expecting a bad experience and was very pleasantly surprised. The room was very big, beds comfortable, bathroom large and clean but overall effect was very spartan. There is a pleasant bar and restaurant with a nice menu which was unfortunately closed on the night of my visit . The barman told me this was because they didn't have any staff! There was a problem with water supply to the top floors in the morning but I suppose this was just unlucky as it could happen anywhere. The hotel is literally one minutes walk from the railway station and convenient for the Grand Place and all the restaurants and bars. Even so it is reasonably quiet once you are in your room.

It was good Ibis standard, as we expected.
We took a combination of one night + ticket to enter the Parc Paradiso which is close by (and really worth seeing :)
The parc entrance alone is normally quite expensive but in combination with the hotel we had a very good deal!
There is a backyard for parking the car which was convenient.
The Hotel is next to the Train station and a noisy road but when the windows were shut we did not hear anything.
The staff was friendly and patient.

An excellent hotel for an overnight stop

I saw the Ibis advertised on a bill-board adjacent to the motorway as I approached the Mons exit road, I was ready to stop for the night so I made my way there. Follow signs for the main railway station, Gare, the hotel is only 100 meters away.
The first thing that pleased me was the car park, it was as secure as you are likely to get anywhere in a large town, great if you are concerned about your vehicle security, you need a special token to exit, it costs €5 per night. The receptionist spoke good English and I was given a room that was clean, spacious and airy, the hotel appeared to have been recently renovated.
I arrived on a Saturday evening, the restaurant was closed except for snacks, however, there were several places to eat only 50 meters away.
I thought it would be noisy because of its proximity to the station, this wasn't the case though. On Sunday morning I had a most acceptable breakfast, and did some sightseeing, Latest checkout time being noon.
There was a super flower, shrub and plant market by the station, wonderful value for money, 20 cut roses cost €11!
It cost me €86 for the overnight which I thought was good value, a second person could have stayed for the cost of a breakfast.
Returning to the motorway took about 7 or 8 minutes.
great position

just got back from mons, the hotel is perfect to get to the old part of mons. railway station across the road. old town is beautiful old cobbled streets etc. good restaraunts abound in the town. the hotel itself is typical ibis rooms are good size, no toiletries supplied, liquid soap in shower and over sink. no tea coffee facilities in room. but if you have your own no problem. breakfast continental style but very good selection. if possible get this in when booking. we booked through [----]. we drove to luxembourg in 2 hours worth visiting. all in all if you are in this area mons is well worth a look
