We have just returned from a 2 night break in Ghent.
The hotel Ibis is located right in the historic centre of Ghent, and is exceptionally good value for money.
From our room we had a view of The Belfort (bell tower).
We took the breakfast at the hotel, costing 13 euros each which you might think is lot,but you could eat as much as you like and there was scrambled & boiled eggs, sausages, every sort of bread you could think of,croissants, pain de chocolate, cooked meat, cheese .fruit,in fact I could go on and on.
I could not fault this hotel ,it might not be 5 star but it has a 5 star location and is outstanding value for money.

We loved the central area. Room was very small, but clean. The airco didn't work. Breakfast was below expectations and wasn't worth the money. Very old bread, which is a shame for the famous Belgian bakeries (my wife comes from Belgium). We complained ofcourse, but no refund for the breakfast.

My partner and I stayed in this hotel over new year. We`ve stayed in several Ibis hotels before so had an idea of what to expect. Location couldn`t have been better. Reachig the hotel by tram from the train station proved easier than we expected. The room was basic as expected but was clean tidy and more than ample for our needs. Our room faced the back of the hotel so we didn`t encounter any noise even allowing for it being new year. All the staff we met were friendly and helpfull. Alterations were just starting as we left and I am sure we will go back one day to experience these and see parts of Ghent we didn`t have time to see.
Great for a short stay

This IBIS is next to the Cathedral in the historic centre of Gent. Modern building but just like every other IBIS: cheap cheerful and friendly. Excellent staff: reception, bar, restuarant and house keeping. The young man in the bar was especially worthy of note (he was normally on reception but was covering for a sick colleague).
This IBIS is very close to the many sites of interest in Gent.
