Stayed at the Thon as a 1 night part of DFDS package by sea from Newcastle to Stavanger and loved the arrangements made for us, from the coach transfer, and clean room available from the moment we arrived. Great views of the lake and city from our 5th floor room (520). Tea and coffee were free. So comfy beds, and clean shower room. Value cannot be faulted, and the breakfast was worthy of any 4* hotel anywhere. Friendly staff and helpful attitude makes all the difference. They are very child friendly too, with special play area and even a stairs so children can keep an eye on parents at reception! Well worth a second visit. So we will be back.

Easily, this could be the #1 hotel in Stavanger. We didn't stay in any other hotels, but the Maritim was very very nice. The value was excellent. It was middle of the road price-wise for Stavanger, but in a perfect location (I think none were better) - across from the pretty lake, a block or two from the harbor and touristy area / restaurants, easily walkable to Gamle Stavanger. The rooms were nice, a good size, clean. The breakfast was excellent (I've found the non-budget Thon hotels all had great breakfasts), there's free internet, free expresso machine (very good per my friend). The staff was excellent. Contrary to a previous post, we did not have any problems parking. There were open spots in the streets which were often free. The trick may be to park in the back end of the hotel and enter through the third floor entrance (you have to ring a bell). n.b. I recommend the fried fish / fish cakes at the fish market. They were delicious!

Really good hotel right in the heart of Stavanger, the rooms were clean and cosy and always really warm. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was good. I would definitely stay again.
