I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. It is in walking distance of the metro station and Mariahifer Street which is the best street for shopping. The hotel is like the other ibis hotels and worth the price. The breakfast is really good. May room was on 6th floor had a great view and was spacios and clean. I didn't like the lobby, it was kind of old and was not comfortable. Overall it is a good hotel.

1. The location was OK. It was about a 3-minute walk to the underground, and about a 4-minute walk to Westbahnhof. Mariahilferstrasse was just 3-minutes away too. If I felt lazy, there was a tram stop across the street (one stop to Westbahnhof). Not in the center of town, but still convenient. 2.Just like the Ibis hotels all over Europe, it was modern, clean, functional and simple. The doors were thin however, and unfortunately, I had a group of extremely loud and obnoxious US college girls on my floor, in competition for the “Let’s Act Like Paris Hilton” contest. Another reason for the Europeans to hate us. 3. My room was of average size, was simply furnished, but clean and very comfortable. Bright upbeat furnishings. The bathroom was of average size, but was very clean and functional. Air-con, too. The shower had good water pressure and nice shower heads. The TV had BBC. The bed itself was nice and firm. No fridge though. It was not the Ritz, but was clean and comfortable. 4. Staffers were efficient and spoke English, although not overly friendly. 5. I got an excellent internet-rate on their website. .

Let's face it, the only reason people book the Ibis Mariahilf is because it's cheap for Vienna! In return you get what you expect - a standard, Travel Inn (for UK readers) style room which is clean and tidy enough. Breakfast is an extra 9 euros (we didn't bother so can't comment). The bar is open til 1am and is a bit charmless. The location is fine, there is a tram stop right outside the hotel and the underground and Westbahnhof mainline station is 5 minutes walk away. Would stay again if I had to visit Vienna on a budget.
