Ignore all the negative reviews, this hotel is great. It is only a five minute walk to the city centre and a 30 second walk to the river !
The hotel is not 5 five star but what do you want for 60 pounds a night for a double room for bed and breakfast in the middle of a major tourist area. Rooms are big (bathrooms had a bath as well as a shower), clean and the breakfast is fantastic.

This hotel obviously doesn't care one jot about Trip Advisor reviews or it's customers. We would have left but it was Easter and we had to be near our relatives. We stayed in room 2, the Superior Suite (already featured on Trip Advisor ) and it hasn't changed !!
The bathroom wasn't cleaned once in our three day stay, the loo was well past rescue with bleach. The bed was not made properly one morning. The carpets in the public areas were dirty and had not been vacumed for some time.
They did not even apologise, just said they would pass our comments on to the manager...............they are used to complaints I should think. How can they get away with two stars and a rosette you may ask yourself ? Well .....apparently the tourist board grading only takes facilities into account and not cleanliness, dirty hotels are common in busy cities. So they are laughing all the way to the bank. WITH OUR MONEY. I will never book another hotel without reading the reviews.

We arrived looking forward to a two night stay in york, we were
greeted by a lady who asked if we knew that the bar and restaurant were closed for "refurbishment or something". She didnt seem very sure. We werent very happy as the pictures of the bar made us want to stay at the hotel, but we thought we'd make the best of it.
She then said she wasnt sure where our room was but thought it was on the top floor. When we eventually found our room up a maze of dirty stairs, we were greeted by a dark bedroom with gaps in the ceiling and again the floors were dirty. The bathroom was the worst thing, the grout between the tiles was thick with grim which left it brown. It was obvious the shower and lino floor hadnt been cleaned for god knows how long, i actually cried.
We would have left straight away but we couldnt afford to lose the first nights stay and pay for another hotel. We went out as much as we could and had a great time in York but as soon as we had to come back to the blue bridge our mood would change.
When we checked out we felt like we had been robbed and misled by the hotels website. Really wish we'd seen these reviews before hand. I really do hope they sort themselves out for other guests sake, but we'll never be back again.
It ruined the whole trip for us.

We stayed at this hotel for one night in November. We will not stay again.
The room was dirty the carpets needed cleaning, the bed linen was tatty, only like a sort of cover thing on the bed that had seen better days, was all ripped and torn inside. Blankets in wardrobe(blankets) this day and age, they looked like they needed a good wash.
The bathroom was absolutely filthy, the toilet had massive skid marks in it, even though the bathroom fittings looked newish, the tiles were disgustingley stained yellow and the bathroom floor stank of curry.
Thre was some sort of rusty gadget next to the wardrobe, which my husband worked out was to hold a tray for breakfast in bed.
Didnt dare look at the state of the bed in case i couldnt sleep in it
The mugs in the bedroom were stuck to the tray the same with the glasses in the dining room.
The bar was closed for refurbishment.
The only positive thing was the parking and they let us leave the car there till the afternoon after we checked out.

Have just read some of the reviews about the Blue Bridge hotel I thought I would just add my own comments, having stayed there three times now.
The first and second occasions were good experiences. This was mainly due to the quaint bar and excellent restaurant services, and not the rooms which were just OK but nothing to complain about on those two occasions.
However, as we had liked the restaurant so much we decided to go again to celebrate my 60th birthday so we would therefore book a luxury room as a special treat. I actually reserved a table for the 2 nights we would be there and was never told that the restaurant would not be open.
We were disgusted with the state of this so called "superior" room. It was dirty and shabby and there was no comfort as it was so basic. The paintwork on the windows was so bad I took a photo. The glass was cracked and it was peeling and flaking everywhere.
The bathroom was awful. My shoes stuck to the floor and it, too, was shabby and in need of a good overhaul.
But, worst of all, when we went for our pre arranged meal we were told the restaurant was closed and we would have to go to their sister hotel for our meals. At no time were we contacted abot this.
Rather than spoil the weekend we went to the other hotel and had a very enjoyable meal but did not enjoy the long walk back, nor the tasteless, souless room which we had to sleep in for two nights.
A truly forgettable experience and certainly not third time lucky. Needless to say, we will never be staying there again.
Thay should not be allowed to advertise on their web site as it is an inaccurate and deceitful description. So, be warned.
