Stayed Sun, Jun 1st - Wed, Jun 4; 2 adults 2 children (aged 6&8); Nice size room on 1st floor facing the waterslide. Had 2 double beds that were comfortable. Plenty of floor space and lighting. No eating table available but did have a desk and a side chair with tea table.
No vent in bathroom - gets rather steamy after a shower. Restaurant very slow - used only once. Lots of restaurants in area. Pool area seperated into 4 zones - swim pool; whirlpool; waterslide; kids splash mushroom.
Hotel in walking distance of airport (literally walk across a small parking lot from baggage claim) the airport noise didn't bother me. It was the constant banging of the metal security gate followed by the banging of the hallway entrance gate that got on my nerves.
It was an okay stay.

Just return from extended weekend at this hotel. First, the hotel is nice, but I have been at Holiday Inns better than this. I am not sure if it was because they just acquired the building from another competitor because I do not remember them being there before and I travel to ELP frequently.
I guess I will start with the fact that their front desk PERSON whom I didn't get a name for, but she seem to be there during the first shift. (short woman 5'0 tall, mid 20's, short black hair). Not a friendly person. I got there Thursday, about mid day and I drove to ELP from LAX with a family of five. We were tired, hungry and HOT. Well, I couldn't even check in early because she still didn't have any availability. She literally told me that I would have to wait either at the nearest mall or just drive around some more. Which wasn't very nice. Didn't even offer for us to at least wait in the lobby. I guess I figure its not within the rules to have people wait around in the lobby. (Go Figure) When we did check in which was at 3 PM she never told me that my family needed to have a wrist band to wear while being in the pool area. Never went over the rules or anything of the sort. So, it was kind of embarrassing when they told my daughter that she couldn't ride the waterslide because she didn't have a wrist band. Oh and she never smiled. It seemed to me like she was doing me the favor of being there.
And their so call Water World...OMG! Its nice...if they had it open. Yes folks. Make sure you call ahead of time to find out if its open. This place loves to advertise they have the best water world and all the pizzas that goes with it, but they only had it open one time I was there and it was the day I left and it was only open for about two hours on a cloudy day! AHHHHH
I have to say though, the staff such as maid services, servers and this wonderful woman waitress that waited on us through our three day stay were great.
So if you are in El Paso for a day or two and not planning to use the hotel facilities other than their room. Its an ok to stay, but if you are there with the family and looking forward to their SO CALL WATER WORLD...call head. This place has a lot of restriction and great advertisement, but nothing good to show for it!

I booked from the Wyndham site--I'm a member. I chose the suite which was advertised as being nice, with marble, large and airy.
On getting there the surly staff told me where I was being deposited, and on opening the door I found a cave, half the size promised, with two cans of beer in a tub of melted ice. The carpet was I THINK brown, although the stains were such that I'm not sure. This is no exaggeration.
The marble was indistinguishable from molded resin, what there was of it; the walk-through bath was two extrusions into a normal-sized room.
It wasn't worth $50 much less $250. I returned to the desk and for the first time of my life started shouting, hoping that other suckers would hear. "I have until 6 to cancel, and it's 4:50. Cancel this!"
Wyndham needs to eject these bozos to keep its reputation.

Stay elsewhere

I reviewed this property last summer. I've had to stay here a couple more times since and thought it was time for a re-review.
BOTTOM LINE
Stay elsewhere if you have options. More than likely you are going to find something wrong! There are several airport hotels that are many a step up from this place! If it's a quick stay and it's very cheap, it's certainy do-able.
PLUSES
It's very close to the airport. In fact it's a quick 3 minute walk. Gotta love that. The restaurant and bar (although decoarted in circa 1978 style) is not bad. For a hotel, definetly a good deal and a good meal. The bedding is actually nice and so are the bathroom toilitries. If you are a coffee drinker, you'll like the individual Wolfhang Puck coffee brewing system. For the most part (alothough a bit hit and miss) the employees are nice and friendly.
THE ICKS
Well, I'm really not sure where to begin:
-Security. It's a sprawling (and mostly unkept) property and I don't feel particulary secure. There are many ways in to the many buildings and it would be easy to get your way in and blend
in! There are too many gates that could be left open, doors that don't close all the way, etc....
-Upkeep. The property has a very "stale" and outdated feel and smell to it. Everything needs some updating!! There is potential for a beautiful courtyard and pool area. But it's for the most part neglected.
-Bathroom cleanliness. My bathtub had all of this black soot in it. I figured out it was from a very backed up drain. Gross, Gross, Gross. I had to clean the tub before I could even take a shower.
-Room A/C. It was very, very hot that day and it took my room hours (as in 5 or 6) to cool off. I even called and had engineering come up - they said it was cooling as fast as it could. It wasn't until morning that my room was actually cold. The system is very old and outdated.
A TIP
The hotel is broken up into several sprawling buildings. From what I can see, the font buildings are much nicer and a bit more updated (and have balconies). Request a room that where the 2nd number is a 1 (2112, 3112, etc). This is building 1 - the newest and nicest. I was in building 2 (2nd number 2) and it's not horrible. Buildings 3 and 4 forget it. My colleague was in 3 and it was a definite step down.

This hotel leaves much to be desired. My room was on the second floor , very drab interior. The hotel claims to be remodeling. I hope so. The bath was very small and had a pedestal sink which made it very unfunctional. The carpet was dirty and the room had an ordor to it. Had dinner in the hotel rest.. The food was pretty bad. Don't waste your money. The front desk staff was indifferent. The location was good/bad, depending on how you look at it, about 100 yards from the terminal.
