We were a group of 25 Americans staying at this hotel for 3 nights in September.
The location was great - within walking distance of downtown, the marina, Vigeland Park. We especially liked having Slottsparken right across the street with lots of walking trails.
The hotel wasn't too difficult to drive in and out of and the hotel has some reserved parking around the side of the building (for a fee).
The staff was helpful and patient with our many requests. Breakfast was great - a buffet with hot and cold choices.
The lobby was small and often crowded - and it was sometimes difficult to get past the smokers near the front door. They had one PC with internet access available free of charge to all guests - unfortunately, it could be difficult to find times it wasn't already in use.
The rooms were definitely the weakest link! Many in our group changed rooms several times, looking for one that didn't smell of smoke, had twin beds, not so far away, etc. But once settled in, the rooms were as others have said - dated and a bit worn. But our room was comfortable enough and functional.

There are a couple of plus points about the hotel: central location, kitchen facilities, and friendly staff.
However, the hotel requires major modernisation. Everything from the bathrooms to the curtains are old and grubby. I stayed in a suite, which was very spacious, but very out-dated. The lobby area seems more like a train station waiting room. I had no awful experience byt expect a lot more at the price.

The only great thing about this hotel i s the location. Otherwise what you get is not worth the price. The bathroom was old and it took forever to get hot water in the shower. Also the drain did not work sufficiently so whenever I took a shower I was up to my ancles in dirty water. The double bed was too small to be classified as double and the upper madrass kept slipping of the bed while we were sleeping. During the weekend there were a lot of noise outside which kept me awake.
The breakfast might have been good, if it weren't for the awfull fish smell that surrounded the room.
My conclusion is that this hotel needs a serious make over to be able to correspond with the price level.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at this hotel in August 2007. The hotel is very basic, but rooms are clean. Breakfast was very nice. The rooms also have small kitchenettes (ours was in a small separtate room, and I liked that). OK to be able to make your own meals if you want to. Our room also had a very small balcony (shared with another room), but I do not think the cleaning lady had been there this summer. It was dirty with empty bottles and rags laying on it!
The position in Oslo is great - close to the royal park and the royal castle, and close to both the Karl Johan street and the shopping area in Bogstadveien. We will probably stay here another time - not because the hotel is something special, but because of the position of the hotel and the small kitchenettes!
