Stayed at the Mainsail for a week in mid March. The unit was spacious and the grounds quite nice. We like to make use of cooking facilities, and chose the Mainsail because it featured full kitchens. The problem with this was that the kitchen was not adequately equipped to cook all that much. We all agreed that with the difficulties of cooking in the units, they make it so that you almost have to eat at the restaurant. Maid service was ok, but on some days our towels were not restocked. The hotel had many spring breakers, but we knew this ahead of time and this was not a problem for us. Made use of the laundry facilities, which were fine. Nice pool and hot tub also.
All in all, it was a good spot to stay for the week, with pretty good access to the airport, shopping, highways, etc. We spent our days golfing, and the only complaint is the lack of the advertised cooking facilities in the unit. Also, if you plan on BBQing, the grills are not gas but briquette. Not a problem as long as you have a little extra time and a few cold ones! : )

The check in process was poor, the woman who registered me was disinterested in her job (not friendly, just routine), but it didn’t concern me.
I mentioned we needed an early shuttle, I confirmed via email ran 24 / 7 to the airport. The same woman told me, no shuttle available at 4:30am, we should call a cab. I insisted that was one of the main reasons for booking this hotel, she listened and then told me to call a cab. Another employee told her and I, a shuttle would be available (I think it was to move me on my way). Rather than risk it at 4:30am, I elected to keep the rental car another day. Not a big deal to keep the rental another day, but I did confirm and have it in writing
We requested a roll-away, no mention made during registration, my wife called when we went to our room, she spoke with a woman, we then went to dinner and returned 90 minutes later….no roll away. My wife called again, she told her they were still checking into it??? She called back a few minutes later and got a gentleman named Jason who was able to get us a roll away within a few minutes. Again not a big deal, but the process should be better, we had a very early flight and some tired children.
Now the big deal, at 1:30am someone opened our door using an electronic keycard, luckily we had the latch on, so when I yelled the person took off. I then dead bolted the door (I thought our teenage daughter had done so, but she only latched it) Why would someone be able to open our door with an electronic keycard, this is not acceptable!!! Even with the deadbolt my family did not feel safe afterwards.

My husband, sister-in-law and I stayed at the Mainsail on New Year's Eve, partly due to the close proximity to the Outback Bowl and partly due to the good reviews I had read online. We were initially concerned about the area, but once we reached the Mainsail and saw how safe the "resort" is, we no longer worried.
We were greeted by a very helpful front desk clerk, who even printed directions for us to the restaurant he recommended. We headed back to our suite, which was very spacious, very clean, and equipped with all that was promised. We even had a little balcony.
Following our dinner (which was good, at the Bahama Breeze), we went back to the hotel to hang out at the Mainsail's hot tub. This was our only disappointment. While the pool area was clean and well laid out, the our hot tub experience was quite brief after we noticed the floating clumps of black scum. Thankfully, the heated pool was much cleaner and warm enough to relax in.
Taxis were at a premium, so rather than heading down to Ybor City, we went to the hotel bar/lounge. We were unexpectedly pleased to find the bar was handing out party favors and party hats in honor of New Year's Eve. Then, at midnight, everyone received a complimentary glass of champagne to kick off the New Year's right!
I would definitely go back to the Mainsail, though might steer clea rof the hot tub. We definitely got our money's worth.

We needed a place with lots of room for us and our two children. For the price and location, our experience was very disappointing. The restaurant's food was below average and the bedrooms smelled like an old cabin in which the sheets and comforters hadn't been washed in years!
Not worth the money by any stretch!

We were very impressed with the hotel, a former private accomodation for IBM employees. Located in a gated community we felt very comfortable right away. Our apartment-like unit had 2 bedrooms with 2 beds each and 2 full bathrooms, very roomy closets, full kitchen with LR and DR. An outdoor pool and spa along with a very nice exercise facility (plenty of equipment to use!!) are on the grounds. The staff will take you by golf cart to your room, since they are some distance from the front desk and they are happy to pick you up to carry you back to the front desk or to a range of local eateries or grocery stores, using their shuttle. There is only one restaurant on site with limited menu and somewhat pricey and a small "store" where you can get some items for your room. We did not try to go out to a restaurant, since you'd have to work out getting back to the hotel if you went late in the day. If you're going to be there any length of time, you really need a car, since things are just far enough away to be inconvenient (Westshore Mall, etc.).
Getting there from the airport is no problem, since they have a dedicated shuttle pick-up phone line at the terminal and an uncrowded pickup area to wait in. We dropped our car at the airport first, since we had an early flight the next day.
Staff was very friendly and helpful, rooms clean and pleasant. It's somewhat hard to find since the Airport Cargo road is also Eisenhower, where the hotel is located. Hotel is near other airport hotels, but it really feels like a home - well suited for a longer stay. We'd definitely come back again.
