We spent a total of 3 nights at Thon Europa. Our first 2 nights were excellent. The room was a fine size, clean and comfortable, pretty quiet with LCD TV (though not many channels). The bathroom was a little small but ok. The location is excellent. Just a few minutes walk to the main attractions in Oslo. Breakfast is nice with quite a lot of variety of food. We then went on a trip and came back for one more night. The room we got looked quite the same but the bathtub got filled up while showering and the hotel staff told us we must move a room and they will fix it in the morning.
On the whole the stay was nice and we recommend this hotel for anyone visitng Oslo.

I had a room with a wonderful view over the city. The room itself was OK, the bathroom raised my suspicions - old and not very clean. The staff at the reception desk helps with any questions and problems you have, and rents umbrellas if it's raining :-) It surprised me nicely. Otherwise, an average hotel quite a walk from the fiord.

we had a special summer deal so for 140 euros it was a good choice. big room but the bathroom is old. good breakfast also very crowded with groups. free internet in the lobby. just near the national theater train station. noisy if you have to open the windows. good beds. efficient staff. a good choice.

Me and my wife stayed at this hotel hoping that it might be a little better than the other hotels I've stayed at.
Anyways, the public transport isn't so far away, in fact you can hear the trams all the time and this can in fact become annoying. And the underground is a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Be advised that although the tram is just outside, it can take some time for it to get to the central station.
Although colleagues had stayed some weeks earler and said that the room was nice, our room was really outdated. The quality of finishing in the bathroom was awful and the shower-head leaked.
Apart from this, there weren't any grocery stores around, there was a rather long walk (compared to other hotels) to the nearest shop, and it was a little hard to find, and expensive as well.
Would i recommend this hotel to anyone - not sure really.
If you do arrive at this hotel, ask for a room away from the tram-line sides.

The hotel was almost everything i read in the reviews i found here at trip advisor. Indeed it is central, it has a lovely location that allows you to walk everywhere, the staff is very nice and friendly, and the hotel is an average 3 stars hotel, with a very nice breakfast buffet. However having said that, i wouldn't choose to stay there again. We asked for a triple bedroom, and instead of having 3 beds, we a an extra fold up bed than was not confortable at all. The room had no ac, and with a heat wave in Oslo it was terrible. Also the rooms are super noisy, because there are trams passing the road in front of the hotel all day and night. The bathroon was so tiny, that if you're more than 1,80m tall you'll have a hard time fitting in there. But i guess that, with Oslo prices and the location, this is an ok budget hotel to stay in.
