This hotel was AWFUL. We dropped our things off for only a second. When we arrived back from walking Rome all day, we found a distinct odor of feces and garbage from our room. We found that the carpet was soaking wet and had wondered if there was a leak that we were not infomred about. We tried sleeping and the stench was so overwhelming that we called downstairs to see if we could switch rooms. The manager was very rude and told us there we no other rooms available( which was a blatent lie because we saw 1 other couple there the whole 24 hours) and that it was a 3 star hotel so what did we expect?? I expected not to smell poop the entire night of sleep before a 9 hour plane ride. That place was disgusting and I advise all who want polite assistance for the good money you are paying to NOT go there.

Following 2 trips just after xmas staying in 5 star hotels in 2 different countries, this 3 star hotel was very good step .We had a very warm reception on arrival, and normal check procedures went without issue. The double room was on the 2nd floor, and it was extremely clean with ample space. Also, the window overlooked onto the street and added to the flavor waking up in the morning looking out on Rome. The area is about a 5-7 minute walk from termini so It is well located. We got a taxi home one night from Spanish steps, and it worked out at about 8Euro. The only fault maybe I had with the stay was the fact there was no "Do Not Disturb" or "No Service" tags for the door, and felt my privacy was interrupted , but other than that it was everything a 3 star lived up to be. Worth the stay !!

We spent four nights at the hotel in March. The "superior" hotel room was comfortable and had modern bathroom fittings. Also, the heat control was modern. The area is safe and itd an easy , brisk, seven minute walk to Termini. The room was very clean and was cleaned regularly. The staff was nice enough. We utilized the hotel taxi to and from the airport. Very little street noise. Several nice, affordable dining options around the corner.
The waiters will try to rush you but once you order they leave you alone. Meals were unifromly good at Mama Angela's, Monte Arci, Steak House.
Nothing to complain about!

Myself and my boyfriend stayed in Rome for 4 nights at Hotel Montecarlo. The location is perfect, once you get your barings it's only a short walk to Termini where we took a bus tour of the city on our first day. It really is the best way to get a feel for the city for a first-time visitor. The area around Termini is a little dodgy..we weren't bothered by anyone but best to have your wits about you. A tip for the tour ticket would be to buy a 48 hr tkt, we went with GTM (green/grey opentop bus) which was ?22, one day is ?18, so you make a saving and we used it a lot during our first 2 days. After that it is easy enough to find sites by foot, the hotel gave a really good map. The hotel was v.good, v.clean and spacious, we went for the superior room, maybe I was a little naive! but the Jacuzzi i'd been looking forward to was a stand up(with a seat!) shower thats sprays massasing jets of water,i was expecting a tub but still it was good especially after all the walking we did! Brekkie was more than adequate&set us up for the day. Would stay here again!
